CD Burners are short life at least some of them. Sounds like yours is bad. I recommend you replace it with a better one. You only get about a thousand burns out of some of them.

Try to upgrade the firmware of the CD-WRITER. You can download ot from the manufacturers website or they might have sent a utility with the driver CD which can automatically detect a new firmware upgrade when online.

If it is truly a CD-ROM, then you will never get it to burn a CD!

I would love you help if you would care to be more specific regarding your problem? A more detailed description regarding what is happening before the problem and when it happens will help me and other technicians in solving your problem.

  • Anonymous Jan 19, 2007

This was not meant to be a solution, it was meant as a comment in order to get more information to PROVIDE you with a solution. Your problem was far too vague.

Please tell me more about what happens before you try to write files, what software you're using, and so on. It may just be a faulty CDROM burner, in which you will need a replacement.

My lg dvd rom is not reading dvds

Try deleting upper and lower filters of your optical drive. To do that, run regedit on start search. Then, follow this path: local machine, system, current control set, control, class, 4D36E965- E325 - 11CE - BFC1- 08002BE10318. then on the window under Name, look for upper and/or lower filters. right click on it and delete. restart pc. then you're good to go.

My dcd is working but cant read file

You must use a writeable DVD to burn files. You need to match your DVD burner to the proper DVD disc. They are not all alike.

Hp pavilion zv6000..Please HELP!!

That blinking cursor is the way in which the BIOS is telling you that Windows is missing - its most critical, core files have been corrupted beyond repair. The only thing you can do is to reinstall using the recovery cd or your own Windows install disk.

The cd may be bad, or if the power supply is just marginal, it may be failing when the cd motor spins up.
