My webcam is not working

When i plug my usb microsoft vx 3000 webcam into a working usb port on my desktop computer a little box pops up on the lower right of the screen saying my computer is detecting a new usb camera device. then a box pops up saying the device is not installed and may not function. sure enough the device wont function so i unplug it and go to the website to download the newest drivers. when i finish downloading the drivers i start to install them, and around half way through the process a box pops up saying there was an unexpected error and the installation was failed. i have tried this many different times with a couple of different versions of the software and i get the same result every time.

Remove the entire USB layer from Device Manager... Right Click on the USB, & Uninstall all delete all drivers from here, then when you are done, Reboot. At startup next time it will NOW self-install the USB, layer again. But before you plug it in. Install the drivers and any software from the disc that came with the camera, FIRST. now Reboot. At next start up when at desktop, NOW plug in your device, to the USB port, and it should be detected, and it will install any drivers it needs, it should now "show up" in device manager. If not, chances are it is faulty.Get a program Amcap2 this is a great program to test with.

Visit the microsoft support website - enter the details for your cam and then navigate to the support page for your model - check out the read-me link for operational problems but you will probably have to contact customer support for your particular problem.
The problem is consistent across 3 computers so it really points to a webcam software issue.
I assume you are downloading the latest webcam software from microsoft

Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000

Normal 0 Probably has corrupt driver.
Try disconnecting the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Hope this helps. Bud
