Hi I've had this headunit for ages and it's great until it started acting up.
At the start of the year my I had driven my car for 5 months and when I went to start it up again none of the buttons on the faceplate would work but the stereo could be worked through the remote. A few weeks later everything went back to normal.
Everything went great until last month when the same problem happened again, with a few new quirks. The off button works but I can't use the other buttons on the faceplate nor will the remote turn the headunit on. The only way it'll work is if I press the off button twice, then the headunit responds to the remote, but the faceplate buttons (off button excepted) still don't work. Then after a few seconds - minutes depending on the day the headunit stops responding to the remote and so press off button twice on headunit and the remote controls the headunit once more.
Anyone got any ideas about what's going on... ???

Could be a faulty fuel pump, they are notorious for acting unpredictibly when they start to go bad. My bet is in a week it won't start at all. Try banging on the fuel tank the next time it won't start, if that fixes it it is prbably a fuel pump.
Running you fuel pump until its at E is hard/bad on your fuel pump since gasoline is the fuel pumps lubrication.
The easiest thing to try is to clean all of the electrical contacts between the faceplate and the HU with rubbing alcohol. Also, play around with pressing on different points on the faceplate while pushing buttons. See if any point that you press causes the issue to happen more/less often. It may be as simple as a contact that is barely touching its mate.
Beyond that, it's possible the faceplate is starting to go south, in which case a new faceplate may be in order. Unfortunately, I didn't see any for sale on eBay, but you might look around.
There is a reset button on the area behind the faceplate. You will have to go back in and redo many settings but just hold the tiny button down with a ballpoint pen for 15-30 seconds and it should reset allowing the faceplate buttons to operate.
