Washer smells after load

I have an Estate by Whirlpool washing machine. After every wash, it stinks...smells like when a cat sprays and marks it's territory. The clothes that I take out do not smell. When I look down into the washing machine, I can still see some water through the little holes at the bottom. What is going on and how can I make the smell go away?

First thing to try is to get affresh washer tablets. They are a new product from whirlpool designed for front loaders to keep the smell out. They also work great for top loading machines. They are about ten dollars a pack. Read the instructions and run the washer through its cycle and the smell get better. The longer you use it, the smell should go away.

Washing machine smelling

First i hope you have cleaned out your filter. For the smell: Switch from liquid to powder detergent, no fabric softner, not necessary. Clean the big gasket with detergent and run a half load (without clothes of course) very hot cycle with 2 cups of vinegar only. Leave the door open whenever possible. This helps in drying out your washer and preventing mildew. Shut your wall water valve after your wash. Actually you can search by clicking on "ask anything" indicating your problem, this site.

I have the Whirlpool Topload Cabrio washing machine and it will be a year old on Jan. 15, 2011. It is really starting to stink up my laundry room. I have run the wash cycle through with distilled vinegar...

Here is what I do. I run "Tide Washing Machine Cleaner" thru the washer first with HOT water. Then, I recommend running a rinse only with hot water & bleach to rinse the washer out really well and don't forget to leave the lid opened when the washer is not in use.

My Whirlpool Estate Top Load washing machine is less than a year old. The last few months it has begun to smell really bad between washings. I leave the lid up but that doesn't help. The clothes don't...

Chances are there is mold forming in the outer tub, put two cups of bleach in the tub, set the water level at highest setting and run it in heavy wash mode. Do not add any laundry, that should help kill the mold that is causing the smell.

My Duet washer stinks so much. The wash does not come out smelling good. It is clean but it doesn't smell good. I do use those cleaning tablets but it still stinks. It has over-suds many times where...

I have found that using a l/4scoop of oxi cleaner any brand will do along with my regular wash detergent helps keep the odor under control . I leave my door open to the washer when not in use. Occasionally I will clean under the gasket with a mild cleaner. Remember the front loaders use less water and therefor less detergent. Good luck.

My washer stinks

Hi, problem occurs due to cool washes(i.e. 40c and under) not destroying bacteria from clothing/detergent which then breeds inside your machine, therefore creating a sometimes sulpherous or musty smell.
I would advise you to regularly do a hot wash(minimun 60c) with an old towel, soda crystals and washing machine bleach i.e. vanish, ace etc with an old towel in the drum to move the mixture around. if you keep up with this the smell will eventually go away.
You can buy limescale/detergent removal powders which will do the same job.

Why does the washer smell like stale water when I lift the lid

Buy whirlpool affresh washer tablets. They kill the smell in front load washers. But they work great for top loaders too!!! They are only about 10 bucks and all you have to do is read the instructions on the package and run your washer through its cycle. Then your smell should go away.
