No picture when I turn the tv on only sound

I've had this tv for about 5 years and it's always worked fine. Today I turned the tv on and there I can hear the channels that I'm watching but there is no picture. It's like the screen stays off but the sound comes one. The red power light comes on too. If I hit input it will change to DVD mode and I won't hear sound anymore but the screen stays dark as if it's not on.

I have an LG model 37lc2d the screen is black but has illumination and no sound at all and the green power light flashes 16 times upon powering up?

Things to check: Make sure your TV is set to the correct input.
I DK about the light flashing 16 times but that could be a stuck key on your remote control. If you can, urn off your remote and try turning on by hand and going through the "INPUT" choices to make sure you have it on the correct setting. BTW, if your TV is 5 years old, you'll make the money back in no tie if you get a new "Energy Star" TV. The new Energy Star TVs run on very little electricity compared to 5 years ago.

My Samsung HL-R5087W was working fine yesterday and today when I turn it on there is no picture, no sound. No text (AV1,AV2 ...) at all on switching source. Lamp light is on and the TV will turn itself off...

u have bad lamp , is better if u buy from samsung

TV worked fine two nights ago. Turned on today and no sound or picture. Blue pilot light under center of screen always on. Any ideas?

There are reset buttons on the plasma look and find your make sure after you reset your tv that u shut it off for few mins

No picture 2 days ago power went out thru out the neighborhood, once power came back TV worked great. today, go to power on TV, here it clicking, but no picture... cable box working, cable working in 2nd...

It sounds like there`s a sort on the secondaries of the power supply. Before the power went off, did you ever turn the tv off by unplugging it?? In other words, did you turn the power off completely to the set or leaving it in standby?? if you always left it in stby, it will be the capacitors in the power supply, they dry out if the power is always on, so they will need replacing. If you did turn off the power, then I think you`ll find that the power cut had nothing to do with the fault you`ve got now, it will be the Line Output Stage which has failed or gone short circuit. That would be my solution. The trouble is either in the box or your connecting cables. Verify this by connecting the cable directly to the set. Then try a new set of connecting cables, or call the cable provider to replace the box.
