My proscan did this. I took off the back. Spotted the buldged capacitor. Went to Fry's to find a replacement. They didn't have one but they referred me to someone down the street. Called, he had it. Cost like 2 bucks. Got a soldering kit for 15 bucks. Removed and replaced. And it's like brand new again! 4 years later, the main board is going out :/ that's not so cheap.

SOURCE: My proscan is buzzing and pix is flickering when the power is on.

I found this solution on another review, hope it works
Model Number: Proscan 26" LCD HDTV w/ Built-in DVD Player26LB30QD "pro: good price, TV picture is clear and DVD player is compatible well.
con: sound noise
There was hum when I first turned the TV on, then I followed these instructions (found it from other review) to fix the hum issue:
1. Turn tv on
2. Input mode should be tv
3. Turn volume to zero
4. With remote enter 9 8 7 6
5. A menu will appear on left side
6. Arrow down to backlight and with right arrow key move number from 81 to 83, press menu button twice,
7. Turn up volume and listen if hum is gone."
It works,no hum."

SOURCE: My Picture started to flicker

hi,

One of the many reasons could be the power supply

64.jpg PROSCAN 40LD45Q LCD TV POWER SUPPLY AYL400201

these may look like these

sample image:

c52381f.jpg

Options :

One may have to open up the TV and check:

( Before ordering )

for possible bad components

( and board confirmation If it is the same on the link )

like for visual, capacitors in orange circle

If there seems no bulge or swelling capacitor,

then Voltages should be measured ( yellow box )

How to use a multimeter

If the initial ( standby voltages like 5V ) are gone

then these board should be replaced or

properly checked.

Although there are still fuses on the power supply

Troubleshooting

These power supply have Transistors

and MOSFET

How to test MOSFET

There could be other causes but let us start from the

power supply first.

Proscan 40lc45s won't stay on

Try changing the input device to something you are sure, works such as a DVD player. Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.

Philips 47pfl7422d 37 and flickering

Looks like the TV has developed dry solder/dry/shorting capacitors. To make sure, first of all try the same input device on some other TV. If it works there, you can be sure that your TV is having problems. Then I would advise you to stop using it to stop aggravating the defects. It is better to show it to a qualified service technician.

Proscan tv flickering

I'm sorry that the picture on the TV has constant flickering. Please follow the troubleshooting steps and check the operation:

  • Please make sure that the connections are secure and proper.

  • Try connecting a different video source like DVD player or VCR and check the operation. If it works with another device, the issue might be with the input device currently.

  • Also try connecting the device to a different port in the TV if no other devices are available.

  • If the issue persists, try with a different cable.

  • Perform a power resetting and check the operation. To perform the power resetting, unplug the TV from wall outlet for more than 2 minutes and then reconnect it.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any clarifications/additional help.

Screen has started to flicker constantly. tv is 9 months old. When switched off flickering stops for about 5-10 minutes and then starts again

I had the same issue occur on my ln55c650 and they had to replace the power supply pc-board. Seems some issue with power module in the TV rather than the side panels. Luckily for me, TV was still in warranty.
