I have a Kenmore Elite microhood, model number 721.64663300 manufactured Dec. 2003. One day, the microwave just stopped working. At first we suspected a surge and checked the house fusebox. The fuse was tripped, so it was reset. When I checked the microwave, it worked, but the turntable does not. I called Sears, but they can't give me an estimate. I live in a rural community and I'm not sure if it will be cost effective to have to pay for the trip charge, labour and parts as opposed to buying a replacement microhood. Since it is out of warranty, if the problem isn't too complex, I'd be willing to buy the parts and do it myself. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you for your advice. I gently rotated the turntable and it didn't grind. It moved freely and the noise that it made was a nice whir like you might find when pulling a toy car back and then letting it go. Are there other things I should check, perhaps a fuse? I appreciate you taking the time to help. One more thing I noticed is that the interior light is not working. The exterior lights, fan, and control panel work, as well. I have the same problem except my turntable is frozen and I cannot move it. It just stopped one day. The microwave is just over 2 years old. How hard is it to replace the turntable? Re: microhood turntable not working
You can find an exploded view of your microwave at http://www3.sears.com (yes, the 3 is there).
Ref # 3009 on the drawing is the turntable motor.
I would grab it by the shaft and gently try to turn it. If it's locked up or grinding, that's a sign it's bad.
It runs $24.49 plus shipping:

Be sure to unplug the oven before you work on it. Hope this helps!

You can contact Martin Microwave Inc. @ 1-877-894-0035. They carry the tray in stock, but it's not listed on their website (www.microwaveglasstrays.com) .
The turntable system
consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers,
and the tray.
You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should
sound when you rotate it by hand.
If
yours is not set to be off via the control panel, and it won't rotate
or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or
plastic coupler.
If you don't have your owner's manual, you can just enter your full
model number at the Sears
parts site.
A full
Sears/Kenmore model number has 3 digits, a dot, then 8 more digits,
such as ###.########
On the resulting page, look to the right for the blue "View manuals"
button. Click there.
That Sears-related site has many free manuals. While the manuals they
list there are all free, they will ask you to register.
Many times, the owner's manual will have the installation instructions
inside.
If yours is not listed there for free, you would have to order it
through the Sears
parts site.
That's where you could also order any needed parts and find handy exploded parts views.

F9 is normally a bad door switch or door switch mount.
If
you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety
information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and
disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.
You can probably find exploded views and order parts by entering your model number here at the Sears parts site.
There
should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the
control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is
very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

our tray that goes around and back and forth jumps the tracks and stops and turns the other way I can put it back on track before it makes a round it jumps the tracks again and starts going the other way is there a part that need replaced
Generally the F9 code indicates a problem with the door latch (usually upper) or with the control board.
You can do a Google search for my text file "doorsw.txt" to help you diagnose and repair door switch trouble.
BUT - since it always stops at 53 seconds, that leads me to think you have trouble with the control unit (circuit board / controller assembly).
Once you read and digest the info on door switches, please feel free to do an updated post and I'll be happy to help you further.
It may be corrupted ROM in the control unit. But let us know what you find out.
