I have a new laptop that runs windows vista. when i attempt to connect my computer and phone it keeps on saying install new hardware like every three seconds. i am a REALTOR and it is key that i am able to save all of the information on my phone. if not can i buy a card to put in my phone and save all my contacts and settings to it?
This isnt really a solution per say, but an answer for you. I also have the 755 treo palm. I finally got it to hot sync with windows vista by removing the battery and trying again. Buuuuuuut, it was still absolutely worthless and would not do anything else. I finally contacted the palm treo support people and come to find out this freaking phone is not compatible with freaking windows vista. Yeah, I wanted to scream. I am stuck with this phone and it is absolutely worthless with my laptop because I have vista. I am so sorry. I feel your pain.
Restart your Palm Treo 744p. Take out the battery from the phone for more than 3 min and put it back in. Switch on the phone and then try to Hot sync Again. Hopefully it will work. I am assuming that you installed the Palm Desktop software came with the phone on your computer
I have same problem once in a while when i try to hotsync with new comp and this trick always worked for me.

Well, I took the battery out of my phone and finally got my treo 755p to hot sync to windows vista. But, come to find out after contacting the palm support line, this freaking phone is not compatible with windows vista. Like I said, I finally got it to sync, but it is still absolutely worthless on windows vista. I really hate vista.
you can go to pocketgear.com and buy a program that will allow you to put a sdcard into your phone and back it up. its only ten bucks. its not a hotsync, but you wont lose all of your contacts and saved information anyway.
