The first time this happened about a month ago, the power returned when the interior ceiling was tapped... it worked for about a month without a problem. Now it has happened again after closing the door, the power comes on by tapping the ceiling intermittently, but it turns off after closing the door again...could it be a door Switch or a short, or loose wire somewhere?

The door switch does sound more likely, and is a good place to start. These switches are well known to be intermittent at times.

SOURCE: Microwave Door Switch Problem?

That model number has too many digits after the JVM. Could it be JVM1339BW02 or JVM1339BW002?

If one is bad, it's probably the bottom switch, whose wiring goes back to the power relay, thermostat, or fuse, depending on eact model.

The switch with thin wires going to a ltitle connector on the board is the door sense switch. That's not likely your culprit.

I usually recommend you replace them all while you're at it.

It sounds like it may actually be a loose or misaligned door or door switch mount.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and
disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

GE models have a very helpful "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel. Handy in troubleshooting.

SOURCE: Emerson MW8119SB microwave wont stop running with door closed

It should have a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

I'd call Emerson at 1-800-695-0098 to find your nearest authorized service center to have it fixed free.

It's probably a bad door switch or door switch mount.

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. Other times, it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases.

When door open the microwave should not work at all, if the turntable and light come on with the door open , if they do , then this is an additional problem with door switch and must be fixed.

Regarding humming noise and no heath, Test the high voltage capacitor, the rectifier diode.or the magnetron.

If it additionally does not spin and no light, then check also the door switch.

The diode and capacitors can br tested. The capacitor must be allowed discharge before testing, or you risk to get electrocuted, even if power is off. Capacitors can get discharged by shorting their two contacts.
Replace the magnetron if the checks and all of the high voltage component tests are good, but the unit still does not heat.

All locations, and description of this parts can be located using the diagram here: Counter top.

Parts must be tested to find out what is wrong.

Remember that microwaves are potentially dangerous devices if not repaired properly, the job must be done by a competent person.
A microwave energy leakage test must always be performed when the oven is serviced for any reason.

Regarding parts, contact the seller here to purchase parts. (here in UK).

GE spacemaker profile xl 1800 moving vent will not close

I'm betting your base model number is JVM1860, JVM1861, JVM1870, JVM1871, JVM3660, or JVM3670.
That's the automatic louver you're having trouble with. There are micro switches in the louver assembly which tell the controller when the louver is open or closed.
If one of those switches or the louver motor fails, the louver will not work correctly.
Did your cooktop lights recently fail?
Sometimes the surge from them shorting will cause damage to the circuit board, which can be repaired.
There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.
There is a video here showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

Start button an 1/2 buttons on keypad no work in my GE JVM150H microwave. Interior light also stays on.

The door has latch switches that are part of the protection and operation when door is closed, is the new door identical and switches match up {same number} if everything checks and the door switches are all working, the door needs to be checked for alignment, if it's out a small margin the switches will not operate properly.
