Installed the driver and printer not working

first off, What printer do you have? How are you connecting, USB, network (wired or wireless). I have been answering questions on this board for years and it still amazes me how people expect to get an answer without providing any relevant details on their problem. As for geek squad, flip a coin, you might get someone who knows what they ar talking about, you may wind up talking to the home theatre guy, who is not going to admit he knows nothing about printers. I have 15+ years as an HP and Lexmark certified technician and can help you if you give me some details.

Is the printer showing solid green? any blinking red or green?
It could also you need to reinstall the printer driver. If all fail, then it could be the printer itself is faulty.

Operating system must match driver.

In order to resolve the issue follow the steps:

Turn on the printer and computer
Connect the USB cable to the computer and printer
In the computer go to control panel and then to printers- Click on add printer- choose local printer
Left side under manufacturer choose HP and on the right choose HP deskjet 990C, follow the wizard and your printer will be installed.
Try printing it shoul work now

find your operating system and download the full driver set. (this will take a while depending on how fast your internet connection is.)
from here, you can install the driver and if you have any issues then you can post here again.
If you pay someone to do this, you may be waiting an hour just for the download, then it will have to be restarted, which will take more time.
If you install the driver first, then there are issues, it will be a lot cheaper for someone to help you.

I assume you are talking about a Canon printer here, if printer is not canon, then submit the question again, with the right make and model information.

Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
Afterdownloading,findthefile,doubleclick on the file, if you get introubles ,thenfollowinstructionsbelowto reset and reinstall:

• Unplug printer USB.
• Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
• Download driver from website and run the file.
  
• Follow driver installation wizard.
• Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

Note some printer does not work on Vista.

You must be talking about downloading your printer driver?

If your machine does not have internet access, use sneaker net...

sneaker net:
Copy the driver to a flash/thumb/floppy disk.
Using your sneakers (tennis shoes or what ever), take the copied file
to your computer where the the printer is attached.
Use the installed system software to install the new printer driver.

This can be done as a network device, AFTER it's installed as a local printer. I know, it's nuts, but we're talking MSoft.

drivers for printer are unique to a PC, so make sure you have the best ones.

Okay you will need to make sure all the cables are plugged in and you need to make sure the drivers and the software are installed. If they are installed and it doesn't work right you need to uninstall them and then after restarting your computer reinstall the software.
