I thinK I lost my videos when I formatted my camcorder.

I have a JVC GZ-HD7 camcorder. It has 60Gb/Hybrid Hard Disk - It's HDMI. I did the format on my videos thinking I had downloaded it to my computer. I lost the video that we had done on 11-11-2008 for my dad for Veterans Day. I would like to know if you could help me find that video for that day only. Maybe it might be to late because I formatted the camcorder before I exported the video to my computer. Please post my question and if you can please e-mail me back.

Thank you
Frances

SOURCE: Monitor Sound for JVC GZ-HD7

I've never heard of an adapter and after a quick google search and all the options voided the warranty, but if i were to make an educated guess... the easiest way and unfortunately bulky way of doing this would be to use the av jack and the cable that came with the camcorder, take one or both of the RCA stereo ends and pass them through a mic - line level converter and that should work, or you can use one of the stereo RCA ends and use a rca to phono adapter and then connect a headphone volume amplifier to that. Other than those choses, I see no other way to monitor your record volume with headphones.
JVC has been approached about this and they said they didn't include a headphone jack to reduce cost, but seriously. how expensive could that have been?

SOURCE: my mac OS 10.5 driver (disc) for Everio GZ HD7 camcorder?????

Hey Brett, unfortunately FCP and iMovie are looking for a device over Firewire or a capture card (whichever you have set up). The driver off of the disk is actually quite useless under any Mac Os 10. Video editing programs unless older or PC based rarely use USB for video transfer hence why none of the apps are locating the camera. Unfortunately you'll have to transfer the files via USB as data and use a program like MPEGStreamclip to transcode them to a file format those programs will understand. JVC has released updated software but it seems to do nothing at all. I hope this helps.
P.S. you may need the MPEG 2 Codec to do the conversions wether you're using MPEGStreamclip or another application.

SOURCE: lost files with camcorder everio gz-hd7

From my experience with Hard Drive based Camcorders.. you're best bet is to treat them like a computer.. use an application like Data Rescue II to recover the files from the camcorder.. once the files are recovered, reformat the HD on teh camcorder and you should be abel to start recording new footage again.

Lost the disks that came with hybrid everio(JVC) 30gb

You can go to the cybelink website and download a trial copy of the software that came with the camcorder. The software is ; Cyberlink Power Cinema, Power Directer, and Power Producer. The camcorder's format is also recognizable by Mac. Or if you dont want ot eventually buy the new software you can manually change the file extension of you movies off the camcorder to .mpg to view back your video using windows media player. Until you get editing software, you would not be able to edit your movies. Adobe Premier Elements 4 works fine with .mov files and Final cut pro.
