Amana Electric Smoothtop Cooktop heat control knob.

We have the Amana cooktop model #AKT36501. Somehow the heat control knob got pushed down and will not pull back into the correct possition. What is the best way to resolve this problem.

The problem is the control knob is not being held in where it is supposed to be . It is really loose.

The whole switch needs to be repaired. There are 4 little prongs on top of the switch that are made of plastic. They break off and then there is nothing to hold the switch in proper place.

paint has worn off so no longer can see on off or heat settings for cooktop.

Maytag precision touch control 500 electric smoothtop

The heating coils in the oven need to be inspected very carefully where they plug in to the oven wall. You will need to remove the back covers and check the insulators and wiring harnesses. Over time the insulation can break down and oxidize the metal connections. You can use a voltmeter or test light to verify that the coils are getting voltage from the thermostat/switch. replacing parts is cheaper than buying new if you can find the parts.

Indicator light on my maytag electric smoothtop range will not shut off even though the indicators are off?

One of the high heat sensors has failed on one of the burners under the glass. Disconnect one sensor at a time to find out which one, then replace that burner assembly.

Amana gas cooktop clicks when not in use

Take a look at the solutions that have been posted regarding igniters. i suspect a dirty or wet push-down knob. you will see that others have had water/moisture causing problems. drying mights solve it, but it may need a a bit of a clean. keep trying. it must have taken me a couple of hours to solve.

Knob not working and some burners not heating

The switch under that knob is bad.  It's called an infinite switch.  As far as the elements go, first thing to check is for proper voltage (220) to the cooktop.  Let me know what you find.
