Do you have the Recovery Disks? I hope so because if you reformatted the drive you wiped out the Recovery Partition.

SOURCE: Toshiba Laptop Keyboard problem

My Toshiba Satellite A45 S120 keyboard has a problem, some of the keys are not working. When you type it does noting. Sometimes when you start the computer, it continuously types the letter eeeeeeee. You can hit some keys randomly and this will stop, but if you start a program (eg. ms word) the same thing happens.

SOURCE: Windows xp pro will not boot with new hard drive

Its hard to tell just like this without having the computer in hand to check and test the jumpers and connection and all, but quick like this i think it might be a trojan virus that corrupted the boot sectors of the old hard drive, and when you copied the stuff from the old to the new, the virus followed and infected the boot sectors of the new one too. Try to reformat completely using the original windows install disk, and not the system restore/reinstall disk and reinstall windows after the format with the original windows disk again. If I was right, it should boot up OK with a fresh format and reinstall with the real windows CD, then install a virus scan and a spyware scan and scan and clean the old drive completely 2 or 3 times to be sure theres nothing bad left on it, then try to copy the whole disc, but skip the Windows repertory, the Program Files one too and the Documents and settings one also, cause those 3 are the ones most prone to corrupting a fresh install even if there is not any viruses in them. If it does not boot up OK after formating and reinstalling Windows though and says it's unbootable, then either there is a config error in the BIOS of the laptop, or the IDE controller that drives the disk is defective. If it's the BIOS settings, it's gonna be easy enough just changing the settings and won't cost you too much, and if its the IDE controller... then that's another story cause it's integrated in the motherboard like any other computer, so basically another computer will cost less than a new motherboard for a laptop. So if that is the case and the IDE controller is shot, you can still try to use an external USB drive to run the computer but not all computers support booting from the USB though, so before buying a brand new external drive, check the BIOS first to see if it does support USB booting.

Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 laptop

Just put the Recovery Disk in the drive and the system should start booting from it. If not, pay close attention to the screen and when it shows you which key to hit to change the boot order or boot sequence hit it. Change the boot sequence to read from the CD drive. This is a temporary change on the boot sequence.

If you want to make a permanent change to the boot order or boot sequence you will need to hit the key that says enter Bios or System Setup and change it there.

Hi,toshiba satelite pro L20 beeps when start up

Run check disk for hard drive errors. I recommend immediately backing up all your data that you can, wiping it, and reinstalling your programs. The rebooting problem smells like a bad hard drive. I just went through it with a Compaq at work.

Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 Says D Drive is Out Of Memory

One can only venture a guess on this one: your hard drive is partitioned into C: and D:. Physically, there's only one drive, but it might have been split into 2 separate partitions. I'd go from there.

Satellite pro 4600 windows 98 fatal error

What OS are you running on the system? Did you recently install any hardware? If there is a recent hardware install, remove it and try powering on the system on.

If this fails, then you'll need the restore CDs/DVDs from the manufacturer. This will bring the laptop to it's factory default installation. Before doing so, I recommend purchasing a hard-drive enclosure for a laptop hard-drive and backup all important data.

Hope this helps :)
