Won't synch with computer

I cannot get my computer to synch with this new mp3. I followed the scant instruction but the device doesn't register under "my computer" when plugged in nor does media player 10 recognize its there. Do I absolutely need to download the software for the video/photo and Rhapsody even if its just the music I'm interested in? I don't know if this makes any difference but we had a similar problem with an ipod shuffle- the computer didn't seem to like it either. We have 2 Dell DJ's and a ditty that synch just fine.

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.

I followed the instructions to replace the AAA batteries, but the outside temp won't properly register.

I think yolu answered your own queistion there. Its gone faulty, probably in the logic chip. These things blow so easily and are made so cheaply- even the best of them- that when you return them under warranty they toss them in the garbage or recycling and hand you a new one. Its not repairable. Take it back or send it back. Demand a new one. A reputable dealer or company will not argue.

Just bought this yesterday, hooked up to computer, the program would not install correctly, now the mp3 player screen is froze on MSC Do not disconnect with the computer and mp3 photos in the middle. What...

Try resetting the device using the instructions here: http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/oleeview.pl?view=aa12_view_iframe.html&scy=gb&slg=ENG&refnr=0073626&dct=QAC&ctn=SA1VBE04K/02&session=20110909110350_81.52.160.132

Make sure you download the latest version of the software from the Phillips website before reinstalling and make sure you follow the instructions precisely.

If this doesn't work I would recommend returning it to the shop for a new one.

How to uploadmp3

plug in the mp3 player to the computer using a usb cable provided for you when you bought the mp3 player. then it will recognize that as new hardware and it will install the software for it. then you can synch it with rhapsody or windows media player 11. its simple. once you plugged it into your computer open up windows media player then click on copy to cd or a device (on the older versions) or synch (newer version) and then it will copy all of your selected songs into the player for you

Screen stays pink

Especially if you have Windows Vista, you will need to go to Philips website and download the updated version of the Philips Device Manager - www.usasupport.philips.com - enter your model # - click on the link for your model # - go to "Software & Drivers" - and download "Firmware Update Software"

That player will not recognize files from about 90% of the music services out there, because they use a DRM-encryptino system that the player doesn ot recognize. Before attaempting a Repair in the Philips Device Manager, try synching one single song that is definitely in mp3 format using Windows Media Player. If that fails, THEN try the Repair.

You need to synch them to Rhapsody or whatever music service you pulled the songs from. also, make sure your music service subscription supports transfer to portable devices instead of simple transfer to a computer.

Trying to synch my SanDisk MP3 player to Rhapsody

This player is a little goofy. The normal method to synchronize is through Windows Media Player. But if you go for the Rhapsody subscription, you have to also sync the device through Rhapsody.

Go Gear is not recognized by computer

You must roll back to WMP 10 - this device is completely incompatible with WMP11 - instructions are on both the Philips and Microsoft websites

After rolling back to 10:
disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

No base map

Go to: http://www.magellangps.com/support/product.asp?prodid=1114

Or, if this doesn´t work, go to www.magellangps.com, click on "support", click on "legacy products" (left) and click on "eXplorist 210 Europe" (do NOT click on "eXplorist 210 North America")

On this page click under Updates/Upgrades on "version 2.57", and follow the instructions. You will have to register your GPS; register under a european country and it will work out fine.

After you have installed the firmware you will have the basemap and some new windows on the GPS. Good luck and enjoy!
