Coin operated top loader. all cycles function correctly, fill, agitate, drain, rinse with spin. but final extract spin does not happen (though final drain does). Also, of greater irritation, the problem appears to be intermittent and is not affected by type of wash (gentile, regular, etc). I have no Whirlpool repair information (only the useless installation manual). Help.
Thanks

Re:
P-bass, sounds like your problem is in the lid switch actuator that mounts to the bottome side of the top. I have found a bunch of these actuators just missing making the switch. Therefore the intermittent problem. Solution is to just bend it enough to insure making the switch on every closure. Catriver..post back.

The typical cycle is; fills to selected water level agitates wash cycle drains wash water spins wash cycle fills to selected water level on rinse cycle agitates on rinse cycle drains rinse water spins final time end of cycle
The clutch assembly works only to release the basket allowing it to spin during the drain and spin cycles. The drain function works only when the spin function works. If the machine also agitates during spin cycles, then the problem is in the transmission assembly not able to release the agitate gear from the agitate spline in the drive shaft.
Hi Tina just read your posting. From the information in your posting the machine fills, then when the machine is full of water the agitator moves clockwise then anticlockwise until it gets to the rinse cycle then drains the water ,then it fills for the rinse cycle but does not move the agitator in the rinse cycle. Then it drains and spins the clothes dry .Is this assessment of your posting correct. If it is not 100% correct please reply to tell me what the machine is doing or not doing. If it is correct then the problem with your machine is the control board. Is your model the electronic one with the push buttons?Looking forward to your reply.
top loader ??? or front loader??? if top loader you have broken your lid switch, will fill, agitate, but when it comes to drain/spin for safety reasons if the unit doent recognize the lid closed it will not advance...if yo have a front loader then i would suspect that something has gotten into the pump assy and preventing drainiing of water therefore will not spin
