My T.V. will turn on, but in the middle there is a line of light... and the rest is black.. If you hit it the picture shows more for a second but then it dissapears into the line of light again. The sound is fine i can hear it clearly and everything....thanks in advance for helping!

Seems like you have either a lose joint or a crack in the board in the vertical section of the tv. if you are a tech person you could open it and check it out. good luck

it could be you have pressed the old teletext service button, look for a button with 3 lines on it in a box and press it or try turning the tv off at the plug then back on again.
The problelm is a
defective vertical deflection system. Could be the amplifier, vertical
output driver or whole printed board that supports the vertical
deflection activity. It is considered to be a serious failure. The cost of repair will be around $200 to $300.
The problem is in the vertical section of the main board. Bad capacitors and maybe the vertical IC. If you are not inclined to be a tech you will have to take it to a shop.. I don't know what they may charge but I normally get $69- $89
It's a text box for either closed captioning or demonstration mode. Go into the setup menu and turn off closed captioning. If you have trouble doing that, then just restore factory settings.
socer, solder connections on the vertical output IC are broken, board has to be taken out and re-solderering the pins on the vertical IC will fix it easy job for a tv tech, good luck, BMW Rider
