The fan running near the compressor is a good thing. If you suspect the starter it is the little box on the compressor. It usually consists of the overload and starter. You may also have a start capacitor, if you do you will need a multimeter that can check capacitors. Read the case, it should be say like a 5uf (micro farad) or something like that. They make kits to replace the starter/overload combo and also sell just a capacitor if that tests bad. I have seen some starters that are white in color with a small white plastic clip that holds the cover on go bad recently. If you have this type, take it off and shake it. If it rattles it's bad (really).

My magic chef model ctn1911gew is not working properly makes a clicking sound and is not cold at all and fan on bottom is not running. please help

Are we talking about the fan near the compressor? It is important to know if the compressor itself is running. If there is a loose connection to the compressor via the start/over load relay (normally attaches directly onto the compressor), or if the start/over load itself is bad the compressor will not run. It will click trying to turn on untill the over load gets hot Check to see if your compressor is really hot. Could be bad start/over load relay or bad compressor. Try unplugging your frig for say 30 min then, with your hand on top of a cool compressor, plug the frig back in and see if compressor smoothly vibrates for at least 5 min without becoming very hot or shutting off even though fan continues to run. The fact your fan is not running could itself be the problem. It is needed to keep the freon, and the compressor cooled.

I own a Fogel Fridge Model # VR-17-RE-PR Recently

Richard,
It is important to know if the compressor itself is running. If there is a loose connection to the compressor via the start/over load relay (normally attaches directly onto the compressor), or if the start/over load otself is bad the compressor will not run. Best way to tell is via gauges but I doubt your frig has ports. Check to see if your compressor is really hot. Could be bad start/over load relay or bad compressor. Try unplugging your frig for say 30 min then, with your hand on top of a cool compressor, plug the frig back in and see if compressor smoothly vibrates for at least 5 min without becoming very hot or shutting off even though fan continues to run. The fact your fan is running TYPICALLY means the thermostat is calling for lower temps and the fan/compressor kick in together.

At 100 deg.it does not shutoff automatically

If your talking about a refrigerator, it never will as its goal is to try and cool, and its trying. It is important to know if the compressor itself is running. I, too, have just seen (late June 2013) the "HH" code on my Magic Chef wine cooler (and it is running too cold and I can't reset the temperature). Have you found a solution since your posting of about 1 year ago?

Compressor kicks out and it's new

First of all, clean your outside coils so that you are assured of good cooling air. The compressors have an overtemp device that is usually internal to protect them against heat. If you have an air compressor use it to blow out the coils good. If the compressor will start, the capacitor is good so it sounds like a cooling problem with the compressor

Kenmore refrigerator compressor clicking

Relay on the compressor bad.

Try unpluging for 30 - 45 min until the compressor has cooled down then plug it back in. If it doesn't start replace the relay. Most service techs carry a universal relay and wiil put the relay on, if it starts, your good to go, if not, then the compressor is bad.

Amana side by side compressor not running

Cleaning the fins is always good. Is the fan by the compressor running? It needs to help cool the compressor. The description you mention sounds like the compressor is overheated and tripping the thermal overload on the compressor. See if you can turn if off for a day to let it all return to room temp then see if the compressor kicks on. If it was overheated it should run again for a while before overheating again. Let us know how that works and we can go from there.
