If I am thinking about what you are talking, then it seems to be a problem with your aspect ratio/format etc. You can usually change it with your cable box and your tv.

SOURCE: Screen split with black bar through center, top of picture shows in bottom

It sounds as you desribe, the vertical output IC and or the b+ feed capacitor off the Hi voltage transformer feeding the vert. IC its required voltage. Not a really hard job to replace, but not for a handi person to do. This should be left to the professional, as there are no user serviceable parts inside this set and with the HI voltage and the safety issues its best to call somesone to assist you with this repair. Good Luck

Emerson TV cutting off top and bottom of display

Its picture settings should be adjusted. Now it is set to 'wide' format I assumes. If you want to get full screen, the display format should be chaged. Without a remote control, it is not possible.

Hi, My Pioneer PDP 506XDE made a loud cracking noise and now the top half of the screen has no picture but shows only a green film . Bottom half of display is fine

The screen has broken, probably a stress crack waiting to happen from the day the plasma panel was manufactured. It will cost less to replace the TV completely than to have a replacement 50" screen fitted. In the six years or so since your tv was manufactured the screen technology has evolved significantly, fitting a new panel may not even be possible without other major component changes.

The new tv will have a new warranty, but just fitting a new screen will typically get you a maximum 90 day warranty.

My Wii is connected to a widescreen tv. All the settings are correct according to the manual, but the top and bottom of the picture is off the screen. The sides are ok. Just the top and bottom don't...

Hi.

This is probably seting on the TV that needs to be adjusted. Go into the picture settings on the TV and change the viewing settings to a setting that you're comfortable with. For example change the settings from 16.9 to 4.3 or change zoom.

You will no doubt find the correct setting in the TV's picture menu.

Regards.

Vertical red lines on screen

LCD correct?

There are 2 types of lines they may be showing, both requiring the replacement of the LCD Panel.

1. Delamination Lines- they are usually multiple vertical lines that do NOT flow from the top to bottom of the screen. Looks look water dripped down or something similar

2. Single/Multiple Vertical lines - This is normally 1 or maybe a few solid vertical lines that travel from Top to bottom. I belive in some cases they may only travel to the screen center.

In both cases, this will always show when the TV is ON. Even if there is no signal being input to the TV. There are other possibilities but these can be the most common. Both require a new panel.

Now using an hdmi to dvi cable - screen size has reduced

Your digital box should have aspect settings as well. When watching HD TV and or movies there is a possibility to get the black bars on top and bottom. It all depends on the ratio it was filmed in.

Picture is cut off at top and bottom

I had the same problem with my westinghouse 47 inch HDTV. It turned out that someone had inadvertently hit the "format" key on my satellite (Direct TV) TV remote controller. If you have satellite TV you might want to check this out. I set it back to the previous setting and I get the entire screen. Hope this helps someone.
