The screen flickers horizontally, and the whole display begins flashing on and off while playing any video in Quicktime, VideoLAN, or any kind of graphic game. I've tried to update GeForce FX 5200 driver, installed okay, did not fix problem. Uninstalled, reinstalled, did not fix problem. DirectX is updated to latest version, and reports no problems, but when I run the dxdiag tests, the directdraw test causes it to do the same thing. The inset will cause the flicker and blinking, and the full screen leaves red ghosts behind the bouncing square. Since I can see the square, and this is the only criteria, it reports no problems. I've also completely uninstalled Windows Media Player, having found a mention that it could contain a bug, but this made no difference. I use Mozilla Firefox browser, and can find no plugins for DirectX.

Do you have the latest version of direct x installed? Direct x sometimes can cause problems with games using 3d acceleration, as some versions of direct x are not fully compatible with the video card and/or the video card drivers.

When I am playing a video from windows media player or on youtube without the charger plugged into my comp, the screen flickers a lot and gets all static-y. Or when I play solitaire or chess and the game...

Hello,

That happens when flash player is not installed or old version of flash player installed in computer.

Install "adobe flash player" from its website. It will give you an option which will check whether you have flash player installed on your computer or not .And if the flash player is installed then it will tell you which version of flash player is installed and will ask you to update it.

Just download latest flash player .your problem will be solved...

Friend's Laptop Screen has become too dark to work with

You could have a defective screen - a defective inverter or a CCFL lamp.
To determine if you have a LCD screen or video card problem, read this and follow the instructions.

Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom:

  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

ATI RADEON X1650 Pro Problem

The graphics card might not be working in sync with your processor. Get it checked WHY this is happening. Probably a faulty connection somewhere. See if you can find one before getting it checked.

Jumpy 3D graphics

Hi,

I would re seat the Vid. Card first, and make sure it is in the socket tight, and if that doesn't do it? You probably should try another Video card to eliminate the possibility that the problem isn't with the Video Card in question.

I hope this helps you!

Video card is giving me problems

Make sure the videocard is set in the slot. You should remove and reseat the videocard. Then go to: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp and download the latest video drivers from here and try installing them again. Old video driver can kill!!! Let me know what happens. Good Luck. Tim
