Hi, Use Window Movie Maker.
Open Movie maker while the camera (on) is connected to the computer. Click on Capture video from device and follow the steps. Look out for any options like create clips and disable them.

How do I upload miniDV tapes to PC running windows 7. What's the best way to save the tapes for editing

Use the IEEE1394 Firewire interface on your PC if you have one. If your PC does not have a IEEE1394 port then you may be able to add one via an internal add-on card or a PCMCIA card if it is a laptop. With Windows 7, you can use Windows Moviemaker to capture the video. Don't bother with USB capture as this will be low quality and too slow. Moviemaker is not great for editing so you should investigate alternatives.
Captured video will take about 4GB of hard disk space for 20 minutes of video. If you are using a FAT32 file system then this is the maximum file size limit. You should therefore use NTFS to capture large video files.

Hello Sir. I want s to see and save the vedio in my P.C which i have recorded in sony hanycam-digital 8 dcr-trv-285e model. please help me. sincerly, B.D,Tripathy

you can use the supplied USB cable of the camcorder and connect it to a Personal Computer. You'll need a software program (video editing software) to synchronize your video file from your camcoder to your PC. Other uses TV Capture card for this process.

While capturing video from sony DCR-HC 40E via pinnacle 14 HD through IEEE 1394 in wondows 7, the captured video showed too many frame drops.

Sounds like time code breaks.
If you stripe the tape (record in one continuous run with the lens cap on and audio off) this will assist greatly.

Download vedio from camera to pc

if no fire wire port ,try usb port and an editing program with capture options ...if both ways are not easy, try the a/v output and capture it from there .

Can I use Hi8/Digital8 NTSC tapes in my DCR_TRV250E?If so would I be able to playback recorded tapes on the UK televisions?.

DCR-TRV250E is a PAL version camera of the Digital8 format.
Yes you can use Hi8/Digital8 NTSC tapes. The camera will record a PAL digital picture on the tapes which means that you can play back the tapes in PAL and therefore you will be able to playback recorded tapes on UK televisions because they are also of the PAL format.

Black and white playback with sony handycam dcr-hc20

There is no problem on your camera, DCR-HC19E is PAL system(European system) DCR-HC20 is NTSC(American system). Are you in US or Europe? I think your TV is NTSC, cause the tape recorded on DCR-HC19E you played has no color. To confirm, connect your HC20 to TV in camera mode, not recording yet, just look at the TV as your monitor, If its in color, no problem, just erase the old video recorded on the HC19E, but if its important to you, you can convert it to NTSC using a PC. thanks
