Hotpoint wma 34 front loader will not spin

Machine works perfectly in all other respects, it is not mechanical ie bad belt, loose belt etc, I suspect either a bad motor or control issue but would appreciate expert advice. thanks

Open the rear panel and check for a broken belt and whether the motor spins. In case both are OK it could be a bad capacitor issue as well. Good luck!

If it is an English front loader then it could be that the belt has broken or just come off, although if it has come off then you would need to investigate why! The motor could have come lose or there may be a build up of dirt in the grooves on the motor shaft. If the belt is frayed
Or damaged this would throw it off. Worn bearings in either the motor or drum would throw the belt off, but if the belt has burnt through then the drum may be wedged solid and this would indicate there is an item of washing between the drum and container which would have to be removed or the same thing would happen to any new or subsequent belt fitted. Front loader washer machine not rotating.

Fisrt, see if you can rotate it by hand, BOTH directions. It should have some resistance. If you can spin it and when you stop pushing it will turn a full turn, your drum belt is too loose. If the belt is good and tight, it will spin less than one half rotation, there is probably something blocking one of the wheels that the drum rides on.

How to change the belt in my whirlpool washing

It's probably the washer transmission. Belts aren't common anymore & besides it wouldn't work at all if there was a belt broken.

Motor runs, but no spin.

You don't list model number so this will be a bit generic for Hotpoint top loader. If the motor spins but the belt is not moving: With power off, manually turn the large pulley the belt goes around, just a revolution is enough. Spin is CCW, but you may have to try CW (agitation). Now set turn the washer on spin again. This may unlock your transmission, but unfortunately is usually only a temporary solution. If the machine was manufactured prior to 1-1-06 and still under five years old, the transmission may still be covered under warranty. Check the back pages of your owner's manual. (labor would not be covered) If too old / not covered, I'd invest in a new front loading washer. The LG's are #1 rated in Consumer Reports and are direct drive (with a 7 year warranty on the motor) so there is no transmission, clutch, belt, or pulleys. You don't have to get the top of the line model, all LG's are direct drive and very good. Other front load machines, although not DD, will also use much less water than your hotpoint and spin out twice as fast or more, reducing dry time and dry cost. I know this wasn't what you really wanted to hear (bad news), so don't bother rating this "solution". (don't want my rating to go down just because I told someone bad news about there machine.)

Hotpoint Aquarius WMA 32

please check the outlet hose of the detergent drawer. it could be clogged with soap.

Error F 04

im not up to speed with the codes. BUT if you are able to open the door this suggests the bulk of the water has pumped away, so I suspect motor or belt problems. Can you hear the motor spinning when it should be? ie on spin cycle. If not suspect carbon brushes in motor, or even a broken/burned out wire to motor. Replace belt if broken

Hotpoint first edition

wma washers (not the computer ones) normally do not have a separate control board, just the one at the top that has the timer dial on it, check for wires off or blown or burnt marks on it, after that check the wires at the motor, without doing multi-meter checks it could still be either i would not suspect the brushes as the motor at least rotates, it could be a blockage in the pressure system pipe, the thin one that comes from the top of the machine (a round item about 2 inch diameter) hope i have helped, if so rate me
