Horizontal line Samsung has agreed that this kind of horizontal is a fatal flaw that cannot be repaired, so the only solution is a replacement. However, this is a discontinued unit, and they say they can find none is stock and want me to accept a refurbished unit or wait until they "find" a new one "sometime in December." After reading a report here of someone having two of these monitors have the same problem, I am thinking there is either a design flaw or a mistake in production that has affected a number of monitors. This was very valualble information for me, because I now realize that I would be better off getting a refund and looking for another model. Too bad, because the quality is otherwise outstanding. MONITOR STARTED GOING DIM AND AT TIMES WOULD POWER DOWN. IT WILL NOW POWER UP, BUT IS SO DIM THAT THE DISPLAY IS NOT DISCERNABLE. I JUST BOUGHT A NEW 24" LG MONITOR, BUT I'M GOING TO CONTACT SAMSUNG TO TRY AND GET A REPLACEMENT.

A horizontal line means that the verticle deflection circuit is not operating. Take it to a TV repair shop this is not a difficult fix for a tv tech
