The right answer is get the one specifically made for your vehicle. The other answer is it is only a gas tank and I would bet that any "short comings or misfittings" can be worked around. Just don't modify the tank itself or cause damage such as dents or punctures. If it fits in the cavity I would give it a shot.
probably your fuel filter.not sure on a volvo but most models it is in the gas tank.the filter is not much,if you dont know anything about cars and have to take it in,it will be expensive, they will have to drop your gas tank to fix it.
Hello, I know you posted this question almost a year ago and I don't know if you have your answer yet. I just wanted to let you know we had a similar problem after purchasing a used 2003 Volvo XC90 earlier this year for my daughter to drive around, and found out that there was an outstanding recall on it due to the fumes from the gas tank. It had something to do with the fuel lines, and and the fuel tank, and being in a southern state (in which we are) I would suggest checking to see if your car falls into this category.
something is gittn hot in the electrics and causing high resistence--common in older cars--need to have and OBD I scan that runs a data stream showing values of components------go to a specialist
turn ignition key go back of car you should be able to hear a humming sound under neath car if you don't hear anything your fuel pump is bad or disconnect fuel line from injectors and try to crank car if the area is wet pump is working
the gas flap is operated with the central locking, stand at rear of car with tailgate open, just inside to the right, under the floormat you will find the central locking pump.but first renew the batteries in the remotes then unlock the car with the key and hold the key over for 30 secs, the windows may go down,
then lock the car with the key and hold over for 30 secs, the windows may go up and the sunroof,if fitted will close, then unlock with remote button held down for 30 secs, this will reset alarm/central locking.
if you need to get to gas flap, pull carpet away in boot behind flap area and pull wire to unlock....
It sounds like your fuel pump is having a problem with getting the last of the fuel from your tank. The pump also has a strainer on it. The unfortunate reality with the 1993 Volvo 850 is that the pump and strainer are located inside of your gas tank. You can look for kinks or pinched areas in the line but from your description it sounds like the pump is going. It has to work much harder when the fuel is low in the tank.
If your air mass meter tests good, the I would tell you to check the HIGH PRESSURE PUMP underneath the Driver's side chassis pump holder-next to the fuel filter.
There are 2 pumps on your Volvo---the in-tank low pressure, and the chassis mounted high pressure. The car will run with the in-tank failed and the high pressure good. It will not run with the high pressure failed. Test the pump by applying voltage to the two terminals.
Another common failure, should the high pressure pump be good, is the HALL EFFECT SENSOR located in the distributor on the back of the engine. Once this sensor goes, it's no start. A rebuilt or used distributor may be the answer to your problem.
the fuel pump boot is full of debree off the bottom of the tank. two ways to fix the prob. 1 dont run it out of gas anymore, or 2 drop the fuel tank and clean it out
