When powered on, the display is there. Upon placing a CD into the drive it will play. I cannot change the volume. I cannot search, switch to FM/AM, I cannot do a thing with it except to power it down. I have removed the faceplate and pressed the reset button to no avail. I have seperated powere to it by disconnecting the wiring harness and reattaching and reseting. Nothing. Is there anything that I can do besides take it out and use it to break walnuts?

Hi, It could be the drivers for CD/DVD. The best way to troubleshoot this is right click on computer, select manage. A new window will pop up, in that list select device manager. Look in the list for CD/DVD drives and click on the + sign next to it, when the tree opens right click on the CD/DVD drive and select uninstall, then restart the PC.
This method will hard reset the system and force windows to load the default drivers for the CD/DVD upon restart. Hopefully this should resolve your problem. If not please post back.
