Smoke from control panel when oven is on

Above the rear left burner and below the dial controls on the back faceplace - I get smoke coming out from the oven. At first I thought the oven was just heating up and causing the tea kettle on the rear burner to steam, but last night the kettle wasn't there and the smoke detector went off. Is this a normal thing? - like a relief valve for the oven or something??

SOURCE: message panel keeps flashing F10 error

Code F-10 indicates a temperature runaway. There are two possible problems. 1) The oven temp sensor has failed. This can be checked using a standard multimeter. The sensor is located behind the rear access panel of your oven. The sensor should read about 1100 ohms at room temperature. 2) The oven control board needs to be replaced. There are no FRU's (field replaceable units) on the control board. Check the sensor first. Even a new control board is cheaper than a new oven.

SOURCE: TOP BURNERS WORK BUT OVEN DOES NOT WORK AT ALL.

Sounds like a heating element. Same thing happend to my oven. You can find them around 50-60 dollars. Veryy easy to install, just remove a couple of screws and remove old element and put in new one. Make sure you shut off power to oven firstg of course.

SOURCE: Smoking Kenmore

Hello oliver909
Welcome,

You said,Smoke is coming out of the back of my gas Kenmore oven. Oven is clean - no spills/debris. Ran clean cycle and broiler did not smoke. Warmer drawer at bottom, so nothing spilled there. Soon as you turn it on, downstairs is full of smoke. Sometimes after preheat goes off, smoke clears and its fine. But I'm afraid to use it because last time I saw a flame inside.

If your afraid to use it, do not hesitate to call service. Nobody wants a fire!

SOURCE: oven control panel is dead it has no power

Yours is the first complaint I've read of an exploding heating element.
Do a little research to see if there is perhaps a safety recall on this problem; a Litton combination range (microwave built into the otherwise conventional oven) was repaired at no cost some 7 or 8 years after we bought it for a design defect involving the magnetron getting soiled by food that had spilled or boiled over and created a chance of fire while in use.
It's worth looking into since the replacement of the electronics is likely to be costly.

I cooked something for 40min as it said and at the end it was raw, I had to pur it on further 40 min this is a conventional oven

It could be your oven isn't as hot as you set it. Get a thermometer and check it. It could be the "something" you cooked was larger than the recipe was expecting... It's cooking, you have to adjust. It could even be your altitude above sea level. Higher, water boils at a lower temp, things take longer to cook.

My gas range/oven emits a toxic smoke that burns our eyes WAY different than spilled food. The smoke comes out the right side vent rahter than the usual left side vent and only when we cook higher than...

When the oven gets dirty and you don't run the clean cycle, dirt builds up and burns away the hotter the oven gets. Run the clean cycle if you have a self clean mode on the oven. throw the metal burner and grates in the oven too. (no plastic) open a window because it will stink and it takes a few hours to run. If not, use oven cleaner then run the oven to the hottest temp for at least 1-2 hours to burn the old dirt out..

OVEN WILL NOT BAKE , IT WILL BROIL

I have the same problem, I took off the back panel and noticed that the EOC (electronic oven control) board is blackened and most likley need to be replaced. My wife was cooking a pizza and she smelled a burning plastic smell, she looked in the oven and saw the pizza on fire and smoke bellowing from the control panel area. So i unplugged the oven and saw the circuit board did start on fire and fortunatly it went out before serious damage. No matter what you set the oven on the display shows it as being correct, but only the top element comes on and it is on HIGH!!!! DO NOT BUY FRIDGIDAIRE!!!!

Just recently, I have had the smell of wires burning and a small amount of white smoke coming from behind the control knob area on the right-hand side of the stove. All burners work and the oven heats. ...

Since you didn't include make and model of your range, no one can hazard a guess or research it. Please include those details next time.
You might try the manufacturer's website to see if there might be recall for that problem.

Oven emitted black smoke and F7 beeping on display

F7 stuck keypad
Stuck keypad may mean relay is turned on.
Determine if problem is with the Key Panel or Control by:
1. Pushing CLEAR/OFF pad.
2. Disconnecting Ribbon Cable from control and waiting at least 32 seconds to see if Code recurs

If code recurs, problem is in the control. Replace control.

If code does not recur, problem is with the Key Panel.
