It is starter switch problem. Check starter switch, sometime due to excess carbon deposition, it looses contact.

P1701 refers to a automatic transmission shift solenoid failure

does it look like a submarine, or more of an actual engine? I believe it should be a pic of your engine. This light can mean anything from a loose gas cap to an engine misfiring. You'll need to bring it to a garage to have the onboard computer scanned to retrieve the code that will determine what the actual cause is

The trunk release should be located in the center console around the shifter by the window buttons. That is where it is located in my brothers '97 Mercedes C280...hope this helps, good luck
