The washer fills to the correct level and the machine advances to the next level in the cycle, but the machine won't agitate. I can hear the motor hum until it thermally overloads and stops. I can turn the basket by hand, but the motor won't move it. If I manually advance it to the spin cycle, the water empties and the motor spins the basket. It will also start spinning (when advanced) if it is full of water.
I have the same problem. Already check the belt, still good. Do not know what is wrong. Still looking for solution.I have the same problem. Already check the belt, still good. Do not know what is wrong. Still looking for solution.
Frigidaire model flxg52rbs7 top load washer - stacked washer/dryer combo. Machine fills with water. When timer advances to agitate the motor hums and starts to smell. I manually advance timer to spin and motor spins and drains. With belt removed I can turn transmission pulley in both directions. One way turns tub for spin, the other way turns agitator. With belt off motor spins freely on spin, but only hums on agitate. Thanks for any help.

I have a frigidaire full size stackable washer/dryer that I purchased in 1997. The washer will fill with water to the appropriate level but wont agitate with or without clothes. It will drain and spin. If it is the belt, where is it located. My boyfriend took off the back panel but was unable to see the belt. Please help! Just fixed the same problem. Its a broken belt. Take the front panel off and to the right of the tub you will see a pulley and belt. We replaced both the pulley and the belt for around $40. Was real easy to do yourself.

The cycle doesn't advance
When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:
It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.
It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Possible fault with the program controller unit. You need to check the program cycle outputs using a multimeter connected to measure the output voltage. On start the inlet should open and then close as the water level sensors works and then proceed to wash. So this much seems OK. Now in the next step the drain valve must open to drain off, then fill once again with the inlet working and water level being sensed. If there is no output in this section cycle then the prrogram controller has errors within the memory . You can remove the panel and reset all connectors and connections.

If your washer fills but the timer cycle doesn't advance-replace the timer. If your washer fills the time cycle advance, and still not agitating your agitator is at fault.
