I was just wondering if a wirless router relplaces a ADSL modem?
Hi there :
No ADSL Modem cannot be replaced by a router
but but
u can use a modem *** router and that will reduce the device called modem
well i know abt linksys only its WCG200 .....
Hi,
Offhand, no. The modem would still be needed to interface between your two-wire telephone line carrier. The OUTPUT of the modem would normally be Ethernet (or a SUB or a combo of both). The Ethernet output then would be needed as the INPUT of the router. The router then would make it available to any of its 4 Ethernet port or tirelessly. There are however models/version that is a combination modem/router.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
Nope it does not ...
the router only acts as a pass through device which shares internet connection from your modem ( from your isp) ... :-)
I think Not.
There are ADSL wireless routers however.
I guess your purpose is to make your ADSL modem available wirelessly, you can connect the
modem via lan line to the wireless and use that as a router.
