System shuts down whenever there is a loud noise on a DVD

Everytime we watch DVDs with out system we have the problem of the sound cutting out whenever a loud noise occurs in the movie. Explosions, car crashes, dramatic soundtracks...it all causes the system to shut down and we get a blue screen that says No Signal. Then we have to start the DVD over and find our way to whatever scene we were at. Needless to say, action movies can be frustrating to watch. We called JVC and they were not at all helpful. We have a standard Adelphia cable box, TiVo and a Samsung HDTV....we'd appreciate any help we can get.

If the system is shutting down there is a major drain going on with the speakers. The treble can cause this as well as shorted speakers or even a failing output.

I also was having the same problem... I had the mistake of having the treble all the way up along with all the other speakers except the subwoofer. I just put all the speakers back to 0 and the problem has been solved for months now

I had the same problem. Found out the wires were in contact with one another on one of the speakers.

I have a Panasonic SA-PT960 surround sound/dvd player. Whenever I turn it on I get a chgr err flashing on the screen and a loud grinding noise

There is a fault with the DVD Changer and the noise is the gears grinding. This is a common fault with these units as a small arm within the unit breaks and blocks the mechanism.

You can either try and replace the complete DVD Changer or remove it and just us it as a surround sound system with your auxiliaries connected to it.

When i watch dvds, the background noise is loud

Go to your set up menu, navigate to speaker set up and check your sound levels to front, center, and rear channels. Adjust as needed to fit the room. My Sony has a test tone option which sends a signal (at levels selected) to each speaker to check sound level and if speaker is connected and in right place.

Shuts off after a loud sound

Hmmm...not sure but sounds like the vibration from the loud sound is causing the disk to jump. Not sure why that would power it off, but I think your thought to junk it sounds reasonable.

I have a SONY home theater4.gif system, HT-C800DP, there is a crackling sound when playing DVDs - it is almost as if the unit overheats. Is there any solution to this? Sometimes I cannot even finish a DVD as the noise gets very loud.

Sound cuts out

If you listen to cd's and the sound dos'ent cut out then it cant be the amp. It could be the audio cables are intermittant between the amp and the dvd playerr or they are loose or corroded a little. or ppossible the input your using is going bad on the stereo sytem but I wouldnt think that the whole system was blown if the radio and the cd plays normal.. check out the causes I listed and let us know if you need more assistance\..:)
