DVD Stuck I was watching a new DVD and about 2 minutes into the program it stopped. I started over and at about the same spot , the screen went black. I tried to eject the DVD but it doesn't respond. I tried turning the machine off and on to no avail. I unplugged it too. Any suggestions?

I have a Samsung DVD-V1000 and the DVD tray would not open, after trying several solutions I literally lifted the DVD and shook it--it worked. Whatever was jammed loosened and it's good to go!

Even though how good my DVD is, my player gets stuck or stops intermitently when playing.

I've had my unit for a year at Christmas. The VCR side works fine, but the DVD side has quit playing all together. It won't even try to read the disc. It's almost as if something isn't getting connected when I push play. Any suggestions? Thanks. I have cleaned it and that didn't help either.

After watching a disc for approx. 1 hour, screen goes completely blank, nothing seems to work, turn it off, try to open tray, nothing. After trying several times finally get it to work, but I FF into next scene. This has happened three times, so I know its not the disc. Got any suggestions?

Although, this particular model does not have a pinhole in the faceplate or anywhere else for that matter, we solved that problem simply by unplugging the whole machine, waiting one minute, and plugging it back in. This is Dysney's quoted response for "rebooting" and troubleshooting such a problem and it worked for us when the same thing happenned.

There is not a little pin hole on this unit. I actually had to take the top off and the arm that is over the DVD in the unit itself.

My son trapped 3 DVD's in the tray! it wouldn't open or move so I opened it up (unscrew the three screws and take the top off) slid them out with my fingers and now the thing works good as new!

There should be a little pin hole in the face plate or bezel of your dvd player... stick a paper clip in it and it will release your DVD tray and you can get your DVD out. Then Plug it back in and see if it will reboot.. it should. Good Luck. Hounddog

I have a Samsung DVD/VCR combo unit that is stuck on the DVD player. When playing a VCR, we can hear the audio, but there is no picture, just stuck showing the DVD Samsung screen.

My sylvania dvd will not play my full dvd. If you are watching a movie it will only play about 30 minutes of the movie and the go to a black screen for about 10 minutes and then go back to the title menu,...

Heavily used discs have caused many of the most common DVD player problems, for example, the DVD player reading errors as well as jerky/choppy DVD playback. Take the disc out of the player and visually check if there are any scratches on it, or play the DVD in another DVD player. Before you throw the scratched DVD away and buy a new one, fix the scratched DVD using toothpaste or convert the scratched DVD to digital files to play smoothly on TV/PC.

Dell Inspiron 1501, died and will not restart

Try to remove the battery and unplug the power supply, then hold down the power button for about 10 seconds. If this doesn't work, it could be that the laptop overheated while watching the DVD.

Problem with the lens

I think we have a design problem here; possibly the unit uses a single-beam laser. Here are the symptoms I have found from my V6800.
When I inserted a DVD that had some minor imperfections, I found that the DVD would hang, usually at the same spot. After cleaning the DVD, there was a noticeable improvement, but it still would start to hang at about 38 to 44 minutes.
Although I have not corrected the problem, I did get enough information to pin the blame on the V6800, and not the DVD with the minor imperfections. Here is how I came up with my conclusion:
I took the "defective" DVD to my PC, and made a copy of it.
The copy played perfectly on the V6800.
The "defective" DVD played perfectly on my PC.
CONCLUSION: If you have a DVD in perfect condition, the V6800 will play it without any problem.
I don't like the DVD medium because of the scratch problem. Fortunately the write-once Flash Memory cards will take the place of the DVD in the near future. Watch SanDisk!
