Went to use my camera and the data panel on the top has a black smear running vertically.
Turning the mode dial on and to different options does not change the display.
It takes pictures but I am really working "in the dark".
I figure it needs repair but looking for some idea of what this entails and what cost might be associated.

The screen is bad, verticle lines, red or pink hue etc. is indicative of a bad screen or there maybe a problem with the data cable you are using to attach to the computer. Try another cable first, if the problem persists, the lcd panel is failing.
