Weak Signal Receiver is only 10 feet from the transmission source. The only other wireless transmitter in the area is a wireless router that is several feet away from the transmitter, not the receiver. What can be done to increase signal reception?

CONTINUAL DISCONNECTION OF WIRELESS CONNECTION

Check the channels of the wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcast channel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currently used but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interference with your wireless router from other wireless routers and access points in your area.

There could be numerous reasons for this. I will list them in order of most likely to least likely.

1. There is something causing interference. (a device broadcasting on the same 2.4 GHz as your router, such as a cordless phone, other router, maybe even a mirowave oven)

2. Your router's transmitter/receiver is going bad

3. Your wireless card's transmitter/receiver is going bad.

4. Your Router/Wireless card's antenna is disconnected or ground faulted

5. You are the victim of a hacker's Man-in-the-middle attack. (I will not explain what this is... However, just make sure you have set your wireless security)

Go to your basic setup and change IP. Your default is 192.168.1.1 you can change it to a higher number
(ie:192.168.1.4) Also make sure and set up security.
If you leave it open others can use your connection and slow you down.
