Cuisinart DLC-8 Plus Motor Shaft Cover broken.

The motor shaft cover on our DLC-8 Plus food processer cracked and we can't find a replacement. Cuisinart says they no longer carry it. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. Did you find a soultion or do I have to buy a new base unit?

Does anyone know how the different DLC-8 models differ? I see there is a DLC-8M.

I have a DLC8Plus with the same problem and wanted to know if anyone knows if the DLC-877BGTX-1 cover with large feed tube or the DLC-85 Pro Custom cover will fit on our broken tops???? I love my machine and missed it over Christmas..I need a new top desperately,

I have the same problem except my Cuisinart is a DLC8. No letters after it. Mine is 28 years old and in great condition except the motor shaft. I am hoping someone has an old machine that they could sell me the part.

I wrote in December with my problem and went on the web sites mentioned. A cover only cost $69.00. A new bowl and cover was $99.00. I only needed the cover. The new cover did not work and I ended up going to Macy's when they had the DLC-8S on sale for $99.00 and bought a new one. I took my blades with me and they fit the new machine. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY (unless you find an old machine at a yard sale) THE PARTS COSTS AS MUCH AS A NEW MACHINE ON SALE. ees

I got the part from smallappliance.com and it went on fine. The problem is that now my old bowl and none of the blades fit on it. My model is too old. I called cuisinart and she said they no longer make parts for my machine. I would have to find an old one and get the part off of it.

Try http://www.abtecparts.com/cuisinartdlc8sc,dlc8mc.htm. I just broke mine, too, and this looks like the right part.

Hi...the motor shaft cover is available from a view sources on the web. Unfortunately, removal of the cover and replacement is far from easy and probably should be done by someone who knows what they are doing. I was able to remove the cracked cover but when I tried to replace it with the new one, it shattered into several pieces. I recommend you contact www.smallappliance.com They have the part and will install it for you.

The letter after the DLC-8 is critical to finding the right part. Very hard to find. I would call the local small appliance shops until you find a collector with an old processor that would be willing to sell you the parts.

The stem in the DLC-8E Cuisinart food processor does it just pull straight up off the motor shaft?

Yes it does. It is a snug fit on the blade shaft, if you mean the tall shaft that powers the shredder discs? The short one that holds the cutting blade is not removable.

The tall stem is shown here

How do you get the motor shaft cover off? I need to replace the old one.

The shaft is spinning inside the sleeve. So is should not be hard to remove. With a DLC-7SP, I grabbed the spindle with some pliers, channel locks might do well and put a handle of a screwdriver between the pliers and the top deck and pried. Second attempt and it pulled up easily. Place the screwdriver beside one of the top deck screw covers to transfer force directly to the motor. Otherwise top deck would probably break.

Clean the old shaft to remove any contamination.

New one can be driven on with a hammer and block of wood.

Cuisinart DLC-8 Plus Motor Shaft Cover broken.

I had the same problem: Cuisinart sent a "replacement" sheath for my DLC-8E which turned out to be the wrong one. When I replaced mine, which was cracked, none of my blades would fit over the new sheath! I "solved" the problem by purchasing a new DLC-8E motor base on Ebay for only $9.99!

Plastic housing cracked Cuisinart DFP-11 Deluxe food processor

The Motor Shaft Cover parts are not shown on the Cuisinart website under parts, but they are available if you call Customer Service. These parts are quite inexpensive (often $3 + s&h). Have your model number ready, and they can get the right one out to you.

Go to the cuisinart website and you can buy replacement parts. You will have to buy the entire shaft not just the top but it is still good!
