Question about iRiver T10 MP3 Player
When I plug it into the usb the computer does not detect my device, on top of that the installation cd just installs windows media player, not the iriver software. The iriver screen sayas usb connect, but the computer acts like nothings is there. No errors, just nothing.
That happend to me and i found a solution. First go to my computer and on your left click on VIEW SYSTEM INFORMATION then go to HARDWARE now click in DEVICE MANAGER it should say T10 around there look for T10 or IRIVER T10 and click on it press in UPDATE THIS TIME ONLY or an option you like and click next then click on the RECOMENDED OPTION to install the iriver t10 after you do that a magnifying glass should appear and wait and it would install saying MTP.

Try to re-format it. on player go to settings, then advanced then format. select format, say yes and it should reboot. if that doesn't work you need to upgrade the firmware. got to iriveramerica.com, support, ultra portabale support and download firmware updater software. Not a bad idea to upgrade firmware in either case. Your music will be lost when you format but you can simply re-load it from your music manager on your PC. iriver only uses windows media player now. there is no iriver software anymore.

Install windows media 10 or 11. I prefer 10. Your computer will then "see" the T10 storage device.

I'm going to add something to Spiky2033, whose advice I used and helped me get what I need. I selected the "recommended option" however you are also cued to put in the CD-ROM if you have it. If you have it, then only insert the CD when cued. The Device Manager will start searching and it will begin with the CD. It found the driver on the iRiver CD. Now, to most folks (including me), the CD looks as if it only helps you download Media Player. However, to my surprise, Device Manager found the driver software.

Spiky2033's solution worked like a charm! Just make sure the device is plugged in and turned on. I did not have to put in a disk or anything.

I was having the same trouble... The updater that I could find directly via iRiver support did not work, but based on one of the other tips, I googled for the Version 220.127.116.11 updater ([MTP] iriver Firmware Updater for MTP devices).
I recommend that you try the "normal" updater from the website (maybe yours is not an MTP version), and if that can't recognize your player, try the updater from the link above.
Note: The updater seemed to hang at 50% for over 5 minutes... I gave up and unplugged it. Then it asked me if I wanted to upgrade the firmware. "OK," I said. It took a few minutes. The screen went blank. I put in a fresh battery. Turned it on. It works. I was able to use Media player 11 to synch some songs to it.
BTW: It did blow away all the songs on the device, even though I chose "update" instead of "recover".
