Television repair should ALWAYS be left to a qualified TV repair shop. TV tubes withold MASSIVE voltages that can be fatal if mishandeled or physically contacted.

Sounds like you need a white balance adjust, call a local service center, you could do it yourself but you will need access to the factory mode, I don't know how to get into the factory mode for that model

If you have prior experience of TV repair and know high voltage risk involve in Plasma TV then you may check below mentioned voltage on given locations to check what supply is not working for further diagnosis.

I don't think they exist, I would try contacting Sony directly first.

Is it imperative you have HDMI? I can recommend an excellent HDMI to component video converter if you are using an HDMI only source.

Any tv repair shops,look for them on the telephone Yellow pages.U mean litterly the power supply board taken out of the tv unit,yes,if they except the job.All tv shops,like their customers keep their parts in the tvs,Some charged u to come out and have estamate for the cost for repair some don't charge just look at the problems to telling u.

My sony plasma fwd 42-pv1 color tube has broken how do I go about fixing it?

If some kind of color smearing or pixels doing that this set has not color tube and only boards that can be purchased and tried for the issue--could even be the power supply board in the set--too vague a description for more of an answer--ie: does it do it all the time or on rear inputs etc---sound not important with this issue.

It sounds like the repair center was giving you a story.

If you call Sony with the model number and describe the issue (you want to talk to a tech) they will know from their database if this is a known issue or not.
