Why is insinkerator badger plus 5 leaking from the bottom?

Leaking a lot from bottom when dishwasher is run and leaks less when not in use and water is running. Otherwise motor runs well and disposal works. Is this leak fixable or do I need to replace unit?

Check hose and connection from the dishwasher to the unit. Look for cracks and proper installation.

Don to install a new one.
don't think it is a DYI and by the time you call for service it would be cheaper and use your DIY.

Press a piece of chewing gum in the leaking area--and if that doesn't do the trick --which it wont of course Throw the darn thing away--buy a Evolution Elite by Insinklerator--pretty quiet about $200.00 though--worth it..

SOURCE: Drips from bottom of Inskerator Badger 5

Hi,
Obviously you didn't like what I answered you before, but if that is not the case and the leak is infact coming out of the bottom of the disposal then you are really not going to like the bad news I have for you now...
I had to remove a disposal today to fix a sink that is exactly like yours, so I took a close look at it an the bottom line is that if you are getting water out of the motor then you have a seal leaking where the motor shaft goes into the grinder part.
From what I can see on from this exploded diagram that is not even repairable and the part you would need is not available.....
So... it looks like you need to look for a new one... or check to see if you have had it less then two years...they do have a two in home warranty...

sorry I can't give you better news...

My badger 5 disposal is leaking from the side whats wrong

Check where leak is coming from.
1) Run water until leak starts. Use dry paper towel near top of disposal to see if sink strainer is leaking.
2) Move paper towel down and check where dishwasher connects to disposal.
3) Move paper towel down to tubular drain tailpiece.

4) Water should run down side of disposal if sink strainer, dishwasher connection or tailpiece are leaking. You can fix these problems using tips below.

5) If disposal is rusted out, then water will leak out of bottom or side of disposal body.
There are no repairs or repair parts for disposals.

Insinkerator leaks water from the bottom. this is when water runs through. no difference if the unit is running or not

There is no repair, just replace the unit. Once they start leaking, that is fatal. you could not repair for less than replacement of the unit.

Badger 5 is leaking from bottom of unit... is this repairable? Thanks Chad

If it is leaking from the bottom and not from the top and running down the side then it is only repaiable by replacing the disposal, If it the top leaking and running down the side, then it can be rpaired by replacing the rubber gasket on the top.

Water is leaking from the base of the Badger 1. Appears to be coming out of the reset switch. Can i repair this?

There's only one repairable thing on a garbage dispostal, and that is where the pipe (drain) comes out. If it is leaking from there, it can be fixed. If not, it means the housing is cracked and you need a new one. PS don't turn the disposal on since it's leaking from the electrical connection!

Water leaking from bottom of Badger 5 Plus

There is a metal ring on the 'top' of the disposal. It's underneath the sink, on the top. Put a screw driver in and turn it (CW) to tighten it and it will quit leaking.

Leaking

first check and make sure that the water is not leaking from the hose connection to the dishwasher or the drain fitting itself. If neither of these is the problem and it is definetly leaking from the housing then replace. I recommend the Badger series disposal with a 5 or 7 tear warranty I have installed them for years and never had a single problem.
