SOURCE: GE Profile PSC25 won't cool past 45 degrees

With that model that is a sign that defrost is not happening on time or the beginning of the problem. Temperatures in fresh food compartment above 38 are not safe. Look into the back of the freezer compartment and let me know if you see a frost line buildup. If yes it would be a good idea to manually defrost the freezer so you can remove the rear panel and check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. It's also important that with this model that the problem be resolved quickly. I can help you if you want. The defrost heater will be easy to see if burned out because it has a glass tube around the heating element. If you replace the defrost heater you should also change the defrost thermostat. Fan motors going bad on that refrigerator seem to always damage the control board and if the board is replaced the the fan motor should also. Let me know if you want me to help you, Thanks, Sea Breeze

SOURCE: GE PRofile side by side Model psc23sgpass - the

Hi.

The most common cause for this problem is the defrost system. The function of the defrost system, located at the back of the freezer firewall, is to prevent condenser coils at the back of the fridge from cooling down and icing up. When the defrost system is defective you get poor cooling.

You can test if the problem is the defrost system by leaving the unit disconnected or off for 24 or 48 hours.

If problem was the defrost system, then the problem will disappear after full defrost, to come back in a couple of weeks.

Other problems that can cause insufficient cooling are compressor problems, refrigerant leaks, and depending on the model, electronic control faults.

Start doing a defrost for 12 or 24 hours.

Regards.

Ginko.

I just bought a dual zone wine cooler. What temperatures should I set both compartments to?

Red wine should be stored between 58-68 degrees Fahrenheit and the whites should be cooled at 46-56 degrees.

I have a PFSS5PJXCSS French door with bottom freezer GE Profile refrigerator. Was making an awful noise and both fridge and freezer were warm. I opened back panel of freezer to find ice everywhere,...

Had similar problem, freezer was working fine, but fridge was warm, (68 degrees) It wasnt my damper, the mother board was fried, and so was the inverter board that told the compressor what to do, after having the inverter and two mother boards replaced.......I threw it out, biggest piece of ****, only three years old, and Sears would not stand behind it, even though I used their repairmen. I will never buy another GE product, or enter a Sears store again

As I can improve the yield of refrigeration of the digging, it is already difficult to maintain the indicated temperature

Here is the breakdown on this machine by temperature - it only works optimally in a room that is 68-70 degrees, which is a little on the cold side:

to actually reach 7 degrees Celsius, the room temp must be 68 degrees Farenheit or below
to reach 9 C, room must be 70 F or below
to reach 11 C, room must be 72 F or below
ETC...

all problems with this wine cellar will be aggravated during the summer months

8 bottle wine cooler unit won't cool

First, see if the fan is actually blowing anything out of it. YOu may have an obstruction. If not that...Generally, there are three reasons that you won't get cooling:
  • The condenser radiating fins on the unit are dirty which won't allow cooling air flow to liquify refrigerant. Clean them.
  • The unit is frozen up inside because of excessive humidity. Defrost the unit by leaving it off and open for a day.
  • The unit is low on refrigerant. Check this by leaving the unit off for one hour. Locate the pipes coming out of the compressor. Turn the unit on. If the larger pipe stays frosted up for more than 15 minutes, you need to get the unit charged.

Cuisinart Private Reserve wine cellar

It is normal. The goofy thing about this wine cellar is that once the ambient temperature is above 70 degrees - which is actually a low room temperature - the fan works constantly. You would have to make sure the wine cellar is in an area that stays below 68 degrees (brrrr) for it to shut off sometimes.
