The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard diskhas failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty.First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.Next - to check if the harddrive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer cannot see itas an USB mass storage device and you cannot open the various folders and fileson this drive, then this confirms the hard drive is faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

SOURCE: windows dont come up.

I had this happen to me before with an IBM laptop. I bought a new hard drive, reinstalled a fresh OS, and had no more problems after that. I also went right to ibm website and did all the updates, as well as all the microsoft updates. So my same problem as your ended up being a bad hard drive. maybe check into that?.

SOURCE: System failure to boot

Check you hard disk drive and make sure it is connected correctly. Is there a new hard drive in the device? If so you will need to install windows onto it. Otherwise as Ekse has said run the recovery console from your windows cd.

SOURCE: wile I am trying to boot it up it goes in to a loop

Hello.

That error message usually refers to a hard disk failure. Your hard disk cable could be loose or faulty. Or, your hard drive would need to be replaced.

I'd suggest to check the cable and run your system's hardware diagnostics (often F2 or F12) when your system boots.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: My acer is saying that

From your explanation, it looks like the laptop is trying to boot from a network source. Restart your computer and press F2 or Del when booting to go into the system BIOS. In the BIOS, locate the boot order, or boot sequence. There should be Booting devices listed in a numerical order, so what you have to do is, read the instruction at the bottom of the page (still in the BIOS) to see what keys to press in order to change the booting order. (Usually its (- or +) or (Page up and Page down) or anything like that...

Make sure that when you change the boot order in the BIOS, your Hard disk should be the first one. This will tell the computer to boot from your Hard disk and not from the network source... try that, it should solve you out of that problem

First ther was a error message, then the pc make nothing.

If you have a spike in the power, unplug, remove the battery, then hold the power button down for 1min or 60s, to release any built up shock power. then insert the battery, (no power cord) push and hold power button for 1 -2 - 3 s. release and see what happens.. now what OS is installed on the HDD. and check the BIOS to see how the boot sequence is set... seems your error show you set to boot to NetWork not HDD

Im having an error when trying to turn on my lenovo. The error codes are PXE-E61 and PXE-M0F. Then it says missing operating system. It wont do anything after that. Can you please assist me with this....

pxe-e61 (media test failure, check cable) and pxe-m0f (exiting pxe rom), your laptop is not detecting your hard drive so it cannot boot. Try this, remove anything that it is attached to your laptop (external drive, external camera or the likes) and try rebooting. If that does not work you have to open your hard disk drive bay located at the back of your laptop and carefully remove it then place it back again make sure that the screws are complete and are not loose.
Reply if pulling out your hard drive did'nt work.

Lenovo r 61, type- 8933 am 7 error 2100 hddo error (1) pxe-e61 media test failure pxe-m0f exiting broadcom pxe rom

Hi chetan5karma,

I see that you are having issues with you Thinkpad R61 Laptop getting an Error 7, PXE-e61 Media test Failure.

I Believe the Error that you are receiving means that the Hard Drive in your Laptop is not responding anymore or is not anymore fixable, the error that your mentioned states that your "HDD" Hard Drive needs to be replaced on your Laptop there is no other way to fix this error you Hard Drive is already undetected and most probably not bootable anymore.

You can google pxe-e61 there will be many possible causes but all fall in replacing the Hard Drive, the only option your can try with this concern is removing your Hard Drive and reconnecting it back again, this is to see if the Laptop will detect the Hard Drive again or not.

Also you can try reformatting the Hard Drive using a Windows Installation Disc to see if it will be detected by Windows.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for choosing Fixya,

PXE-E61 Media test failure, check cable PXE-M0F

There are two things that could be a problem. The BIOS settings are corrupted, or the hard drive system has a problem. In order to fix the BIOS problem, at boot up you'd hit F2 (or whatever key is required to enter setup). Get some paper and pencil and go through the BIOS pages and mark down anything that is not a default setting. Find the location to reset the BIOS to default settings and perform this action. This will overwrite your BIOS settings and remove any corrupted data. Now, when you reboot, go back into the setup and set all of the settings to the choices you marked down before.

If this does not fix your problem, your hard drive control system has a problem. It could be as simple as a ribbon cable being loose or as bad as the controller section on the motherboard has gone out. Another possibility is the hard drive has given up and needs to be replaced.
