Question about Panasonic CT-32D20 32" TV

Remotes do not work with TV

The original remote that came with my Panasonic TV broke (or I thought it broke), I have replaced it with new remotes including another Panasonic remote. None of them seem to work. The problem is that I am not able to turn the TV ON/OFF or control the volume with the new remote, I have to do it manually. I am able to use the remote to change the channels. The current remote is from my cable company. Could it have somethng to do with the sensor in the TV? Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help. Mag

Have you tried to unplug the set for 24 hours, then try the remote?

Since you can change the channels with the cable remote, I will assume that you are changing the channels on the cable box. You can find out if the Panasonic remote is broken by taking a camera with an LCD viewfinder (such as a camera phone) in a dark room, point the remote at the camera and in the viewfinder you will see a light coming from the remote if it is working. If you see a light, chances are the remote is good. You are probably correct that the remote receiving unit inside the set is the issue. To check it, if you have some technical ability.: There are three pins on the RRU. 1 is ground, 1 has 5 volt standby voltage and one has about 5 volts on it until a button is pushed on the remote, then it will drop to about 2 volts. If the last will not occur then it is the RRC. I cannot access a schematic at this time to give you reference numbers or the correct pin configuration, but, I can another time. Leadtech
