I have a philips HTS3400 Dvd home theater system and for some reason it has started to give me a problem of it saying no disk on some of my movies when I try to play them.I have watched these movies in it before,Sometimes only days befor. It won't read my cleaning disk at all.Does anybody know a way to fix this or if need be,what dvd rom I can use for replacement parts?
You may have to go into the unit and manually clean the lens off. If this does not help, you could have a focus or tracking servo problem or it may need a servo alighnment. Worst case, would be a weak laser assembly. In most cases these days, Im sorry to tell you, even a small servo alighnments not worth the time or money to have done, as it usually cost 3/4 or more of the cost of a new player/recorder. Good Luck PS please do not forget to rate this thread.

Best solution and # 2 worked for me too. Just took off the cover and cleaned the lens with a dry q tip and everything was back to normal.

Techman's solution to dry clean it worked! I also used a dry cotton swab and it immediately started working again. Thanks!

Mine did the same, except it still played CD's and "home burned" DVD's (photo discs, etc...). Tried cleaning, but no good. Once I opened the case I nudged the main laser assembly forward. Let me emphasize 'nudged', be gentle. The assemly slightly slid forward with little resistance. This seemed to do the trick. It realigned and plays fine again! This will probably only work if it still reads some discs, otherwise your option would be replace the unit, yuck!

Quick note on this - techman's solution seems to work fine. Thank you. I used a q-tip (ear cleaner) for this. Dry, no solution or water.. Boaz

It works, now Thank you.I was reluctant to try it at first because some Dvd players the laser will get off center when you manualy clean them.Once again though THANK YOU.

I too have the same issue. My Philips HTS3400 says "No Disc" everytime we try to play a DVD. Can someone explain to me how to go into the unit and clean?
i aiso have been exspirencing the same thing, and i notice that the drive motor is not turning like it should ca i replace it?
drive motor not spinning and no disc error
make machine won't read anything anymore. It started saying "No Disc" every now and then, now that all it says and I can no longer play movies. I have only used it about 25 times at the most and there is nothing about this problem in your manual under troubleshooting.
