Panasonic answering machine not working

I have a Panasonic cordless phone model # kx-tg1033s. When you get the answering machine there is a constant very loud buzz. Also when I listen to the messages in addition to the very loud buzz, the machine doesn't cut off so a single message goes on forever.

We had the same problem. Unplugging the unit and restarting it again solved the problem.

If you have Caller ID, the calls you have answered (or looked at on the screen) have a check mark by them.
