Channel change intermittant from remote or control panel
Channel will not change from the up/down on remote or control panel, condition is intermittant, tried 3 remotes from Hitachi, Tech changed the IR Receiver pcb in set-no help. Up-graded to v0108 firmware. I am connected directly to the Cox Cable (no set top box). All other function buttons on the remote work every time.
When the channel will not change the channel number does not appear on the screen and sometimes requires 2-4 deppressions of the channel up/down to finally get to the channel indication on the screen, and does the same when using the up/down on the set control panel. (I understand the delay that is normal in the tuner change -after the channel indicator display appears- !)
Hitachi has dragged their feet on additional tech visits or action for 5 months. I have visited show rooms with this TV and used my remotes, finding them to function without failure.
Hitachi is sending me the latest F/W (V0110.) will see, the help desk could not tell me the fixes included.
Anyone else seen/fixed this problem ???
Thanks
Moonie

Check whether Panel Lock function is set to ON. If it is so, make it OFF to activate panel controls. If it is still in OFF condition, just make a hard reset to this TV. Unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 10 minutes or so. This must make it a hard reset. If this too do not help you have to enter its service mode to unlock the panel lock. If you wish to know more about bow to enter and exit service mode, and make adjustments with this mode, http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up previous posts there, either by its

Take the tv aparts.Take the tv manual control board aparts.Reajusting the board and screws it back in.Should solved ur problems,if not than the whole tv Tuner signal board is the causes and the problems. That the board, where the incomming broadcasting signal board plug into it,this board have intermittent problems and the causes.Try website like Ebay.com t buy a whole refurbish tv Tuner signal board for the replacement.
If the channel down works on the Tv, the problem is a worn or fluid damaged channel down button on your remote control. Also check the batteries life in the remote control and change if drained.
I had this exact same issue just yesterday. Channel info would flash
intermittently. While set was in this mode, could not enter menu,
change channels, etc. from remote or front panel controls. Similar to tjh492, I thought it might be an
overheating issue. But unplugging the Viera and waiting for set to cool
made no difference.
I then remembered that this issue popped up the instance I surfed to a
particular channel (FWIW, 26-3 "Me Too" on Comcast here in Aurora,
Illinois, USA). I had a hunch that there might be an issue with the
signal on the channel that prevented the Viera from properly syncing,
so I decided to unplug the antenna cable. Once I did that, the channel info
displayed steady. I was then able to change channels (of course screen
was blank as antenna cable was unplugged) and enter the Viera menu. I
immediately went to channel set-up and manually removed channel 26-3
from the channel list. After reconnecting cable, Viera was back to
normal. Since I'm not a big fan of "Me Too", problem solved :)
Not sure why a digital channel sync issue would effectively make the
Viera remote and front panel controls inoperable. Pure speculation, but it could
be that the Viera microprocessor was overloaded trying to sync to channel and this prevented any interrupts from remote or front panel
controls.
ok i downloaded and read your DVR-1000 manual , this is what you will do .
While the DVD+VCR is turned off, press and hold CHANNEL (up/down) button on the front panel for about five seconds.
The unit will turn itself on and “RF 03” or “RF 04” appears on the front panel display
Use CH ( up / down ) button on the front panel or CH ( up / down ) button on the remote control to change the RF output channel (CH 03 or CH 04).
Turn the DVD+VCR off and then on
Set the TV to channel 3 or 4 depending on the RF output channel you selected. Now you can watch the DVD+VCR playback on CH3 or CH4 of your TV
PS , you should see a child lock button on the remote , if you press that button , you will disable front panel button controls so kids can't change anything , press it again to unlock that feature , it might come in handy.
