You have to buy one NTSC to PAL signal converter for this, and connect it in beween your tV and DVR.

SOURCE: NTSC/PAL

Surprisingly, and I've never understood why this is, the remote has a lot of functions on it that the buttons on the dvd player doesn't have. I think it is more likely that it ISN'T possible to do.

Look on the front of your DVD player. If it has a "menu" button and a four-way directional pad, you may be able to stop whatever dvd is playing, go into the dvd player's menu and change the settings that way. If not, then you can't.

SANYO DP 42848 NTSC to PAL

The TV you specified here can only be used with NTSC system transmission or video data. If you wish to see PAL system signals by this tV, you've to buy PAL to NTSC converter, and should connect it according to connection diagram given along with the converter.

What is ntse cctv camera and pal cctv camera

NTSC and PAL are two major international standards for broadcast television. Because the systems are different, a camera (or a televison) designed for one system may not work with the other. You'll also see this with video tapes: a recording made for one system will not play back on the other. Much of North America uses NTSC while most of Europe uses PAL.

There's also a third system, SECAM, though it's on the way out.

Hi - My question is basic - If I have a NTSC DVR can I use an external PAL tuner to enable me to receive and record NTSC and PAL signals?

There should be an output option that you change to NTSC (on your external tuner), Dvr's are pretty "proprietary", and are very sticky about accepting non-proprietary signals. For instance, a sattelite dish dvr, will not accept these inputs, nor will their hard drives re-format or zero out.

DVD player only plays in black and white on Soniq 42'' Plasma TV. (Have tried 3 different players all have the same problem)

The color loss is most likely due to a NTSC/PAL compatibility issue. If you bought the players overseas in a PAL region (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0d/PAL-NTSC-SECAM.svg) and the TV is NTSC or vice-versa, there will be a color loss. Thiss because the different regions have different formats and when you go from one to the other, the color does no transfer over. You can buy a PAL to NTSC or NTSC to PAL converter to fix this issue.

No colour..

Sounds like you're feeding the ADVC the wrong broadcast format. Either PAL when the ADVC is in NTSC mode, or NTSC when the ADVC is in PAL mode.

Alternatively, your capture software may have a broadcast format setting as well, and that may not be matching what the ADVC is sending out. Remember that the ADVC does not do NTSC<->PAL format conversion, so NTSC analog input becomes NTSC DV, and PAL analog input becomes PAL DV.
