    Hi Scobie
I have experienced the same problem which turned out to be very simple to resolve.

The player immediately after being turned on and following the usual 'Hello', would display 'mechanical error'. It was accompanied by a whirring noise rather than the usual disc shifting sound and noticeably there was no 'clump' as the selected disc fell to the turntable. It turned out to be the Clamping mechanism located to the rear of the carousel mech. not having moved through it's full drop and so not locating the disc properly. The cause was that the lubrication of the plastic lifting components had dried out and the clamping mechanism was not moving freely enough. I think this results in a 'Race' situation with other moving parts of the carousel causing a jam. By gently relocating the jammed trays and ensuring free movement of the clamping mechanism the problem was resolved. a point to note. The lubrication appears to be a specialist one used particularly for plastics. Other types I have tried will not work well especially when cold.

i have got two CD's stuck in one tray. What do I do? I have a UD-M50

    1.  CD changer jamming.  this is the third time for this unit, twice fixed under warranty, but this time i have to pay.
    2.  Volume control wayward and sometimes willnot reduce.
    3.  Tuner now seems to be messing around.

Can anyone assist in fixing any of these?

from teh posts it looks like this unit is just poorly designed.

You can probably fix it yourself but you may need some parts. Here's Denon's link that'll take you to the next step http://www.usa.denon.com/

ooops...you may need to do a manual extraction on that...there may be a reset manual mode on that one..let me check the user guide..but it may require removing the case, and delicately releasing that mechanism from inside..

Deneon UD M50 - Tray jam

It sounds like the cd tray has been forced shut and has been damaged when you got the CD's out. If it was me I would of unscrewed the casing and retrieved the CD's that way instead of trying to force the try open which I'm assuming you have done.

It could just be a simple matter of just slightly adjusting the internal CD mechanism so that it can open and close properly without jamming. The error message comes up because the tray cant eject properly. The worse case scenario is that the CD mechanisam would need to be replaced. Not a hard job for a service engineer, if you dont fancy taking the thing apart yourself then a service centre is your best bet.

I have an denon ud m50 multi cd player and reciever some one tried to put more than 1 cd in the same tray and it now will not accept any so its a mechanical problem can this be fixed and if possible...

Yes this is fixable by rebuilding the loading mechanism. As long as the mechanism is just jammed and no parts are broken, this should only cost the labor charge at a local service shop. I have done a number of these in the past and while not the simplest of mechanisms, it is fairly straightforward.

DENON UD M50 CD PLAYER no longer works

Maybe you accidentally break some contact(s), on display or somewhere else. If that is the problem, soldering iron should solve that. Look for any loosen wires or detached contacts.

Denon UD-M50 amp/3 cd changer

The tact switch behind the panel is being pushed in by a defective front panel button, the small switch is bad behind the button, or the volume control IC is bad. Good Luck
