SOURCE: can you use the aiptek mega cam like a web cam?

Yes you can. Here's what worked for me.

First disconnect your camera.

Software
Uninstall your existing software.
Download new software from http://www.goaiptek.com/drivers/driverfiles/minixp_1.5.zip Unzip.
Install the new software but DO NOT CONNECT THE CAMERA UNTIL INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE.

Camera
Remove any batteries.
Set switch to 'On'
Set Mode to Video
When software installation is complete, plug in camera to PC with USB cable supplied.
Run installed program on PC. The Mega camera screen will appear. Click on 'Live'. Your camera picture should appear on the screen.

Please try to change USB port in Backside of your Desktop PC.... I think this Will help you more by getting Manual & driver if needed for Vista .....Click here...
