I have an old Elnita 130 sewing machine with no manual. How to I thread it? It appears to work but shows signs that I did not thread it correctly.

elna make elinta machine and a 140 is the same threading as a 130
try entering the sites as most I go to require an account ( free) to procedure to read or down load and that process would be better for you
I went google and typed in--user manual for elinta sewing machine model 130-- and the sites show 130, 140 and more so select a site and go from there
thee is also a www.youtube.com>watch that runs for 1.29 and shows how to thread an old elna sewing machine
you might pick up a clue from that film

I have an elna airelectronic tsp machine & cannot thread bobbin. Please help

Firstly, have you got an Elna metal bobbin? it should be solid on the bottom and have 7 holes on top. It is essential that you always use it this way, wind it with the holes on top and load it into the bobbin holder the same way.

Have a look at the image above, you need to load the bobbin in and click the thread into the tension spring so it doesn't lift back out when you pull the thread upwards. There should be an audible click as it goes in.

If you can't get it right or this image is just too small, feel free to email me and I'll send you the image and talk you through it, I have a TSP machine too. [email protected].

Also, check my tip on bobbin winding here http://www.fixya.com/support/r10598580-winding_bobbin_correctly it is important to get a good even tension onto your bobbin as you wind the thread on, you may need to manually add some tension to the thread as it winds off the spool, as I've described in my tip. I sold these machines for Elna and customers would bring them in complaining of problems with their machine. Almost aways, it was the needle in backwards, bobbin upside down, thread/lint buildup in the bobbin race or badly wound bobbin that was the problem.

Hope this helps you Gaylene, but if not, please email, I may be able to send you the relevant manual pages.

I inherited my mother's Elna Lotus SP sewing machine. She had the sewing guide inside the machine, but not the instruction manual. I need to know how about the bobbin and how to thread?

Hi Jeanne, you might want to check out my tip on early Swiss Elnas,

http://www.fixya.com/support/r10602655-acquired_early_swiss_elna_sewing

it should help you get the Lotus going. Lovely machine. If you are in the USA you may also want to contact White Sewing Center as he may have this manual available for sale or a copy of it. www.whitesewingcenter.com.

Remember to use the Elna 7 hole dished metal bobbins, there are 7 holes on the top, and looks like this11_7_2011_6_23_57_am.jpg

Always wind it and insert it into the machine this way. Don't use any other bobbin. Standard needles 130/705H, flat shank to the back.

Check out my other tip on bobbin winding too, it is important to keep tension onto the thread spool that you are winding thread off as the machine doesn't tension the thread for you. So you need to apply pressure to the top of the thread spool as you wind off, use the curved handle of your scissors on the top of the spool.

Feel free to connect to me and ask if you have any other questions, I have a Lotus TSP at home and its almost identical to the SP. Happy stitching.

How do you put a bobbin in a elna so i can use it to sew

Drop in a full bobbin with the holes side upwards (I'm assuming this is a Swiss Elna sewing Machine horizontal bobbin design as you haven't given the model number).

Now, hold the thread tail with your right hand and pulll the thread clockwise towards you while holding the bobbin still with a finger from your left hand. Bring the thread tail around towards you until it goes into the little slot, then press downwards onto the thread tail close to the bobbin until you hear it click into the tension spring. Test by lifting the thread tail upwards, it should stay in tension and not come back out of the groove.

Now close the back slide cover over the bobbin leaving the bobbin thread tail visible out to the right.

Now manually turn the flywheel towards you while holding the top thread tail and take the needle down into the bobbin holder area and back to the top, pull the thread tail to bring the bobbin thread up to the top.

There is a threading up diagrams at www.sewusa.com http://www.sewusa.com/Threading_Diagrams/Threading_Pages/Elna_Sewing_machine_threading/Elna_Supermatic_threading_diagram.htm
for the old Supermatic but the bobbin holder design is almost identical for all the subsequent models such as the SU, TSP, Supermatic or Air Electronics like the Stella, Carina or Jubilee, the above is the same for all.

On my elna supermatic 722010 sewing machine, the thread makes the bobbin pop out and the thread get tangled underneath. I have had it fixed twice, which is expensive. Should I just get rid of it and buy...

not unless you can find another swiss elna, like star series su. check bobbin in right way, holes on top to wind and load. you havent bought anothet type bobbin??? go to www.arizonaexpressionz.com and download a manual for supermatic. then read bobbin winding and threading carefully and rewinf bobbin and thread up again. make sure thread goes into tension spring all the way. bobbin should turn anticlockwise when yoou pull thread. also please brush clean bobbin holder area and check for any threads caught there. now a drop of quality clear machine oil in middle hole and gently run for 30secs to work in. do this every time you get your machine out. there are several oiling points shown in manual. oil them. these machines are quality but yours may need love tlc from a elna tech especially if it has not been serviced in a while. but a well maintained elna will out stitch a new plastic machine any day in my humble opinion. if you want to join yahoo group elna heirlooms, experts who service their own and share photos info manuals and love these vintage classics.

Hello Supernana.

Check to see if you have your bobbin in upside down. If your machine requires it to unspool from one side having it spool from the other side (counter clockwise vs clockwise) can cause you problems like this. Your manual should tell the correct direction. My machine (Brother) for instance requires that the thread to pull counter clockwise direction.

How to thread bobbin on Elna SU

Please describe the type of bobbin you have. Is it held inside of a removable metal casing? Or is it a dropin type? Is the sewing machine what is known as a "freearm" which you can put a sleeve or trouserleg over or is it a flatbed type? When I know this I can help you further.(I used to sell sewing machines).
