I was reading the other problems posted about the same mointor, regarding the power issue, the mointor can display fine, but only for about 5 seconds then turns off and cycles between powering off and on. I know it has nothing to do with my video card or anything because ive tried it on 3 diffrent computers, I have also replace the video and power cables on the mointor, I was wondering if anyone had another suggestion I might try?
You are seeing a common problem there are 4 transistors that switch off the power to the back light most of the time these are not bad but the solder joints have cracked causing a bad connection and simply resolder these will fix the problem. But there are also a problem with bad caps in these monitors it is ez to see them cause the top of the bad cap will be bulging up I have seen 100s of these monitor fixed with just resoldering the connection in the power board which is also the back light board.any flicker in voltage in this circuit will cause the power to the pack lights to shut down.

You need a new backlight or inverter board. To check for a new lamp, shine a bright light at the front of the monitor and see if you can see an image.

Like xxdarkchild said, the 2SC5707 transistors are usually the cause. If any one of those shorts out, it will also blow the fuse.
Fix it yourself for less than $10. Here is the kit that I used to fix my 173FPB: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=220486136668

Hi, a friend gave me her 17" LCD monitor which was working perfectly. It's unbranded. I took it home and connected it to my computer and all I see ia a white screen with random horizontal black bars for about 7 seconds, then the screen shuts off and the green on/off light goes to amber. It does this avery time whether or not the monitor is connected to a computer. If you want to see the pattern it shows go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZEB9cfCS... Any suggestions on what could be causing this? Is it worth diagnosing and fixing? Thanks, Steve.
