check to see if your wireless connection is on on your laptop and set to work with your router - check to see if your laptop's wireless signal is b/g/n - if it's only an "n" - and your router is a b/g - then you will need to purchase an "n" class router...
normally, routers do not "just work without issues" when you bring it home and plug it in - it should have come with a setup disk or instruction guide - have you completed the steps to connect?
I would first try and reset the router, then run a Repair on the connection again.
If this doesn't work, try going into the Device Manager and removing the Wireless Device. Restart the computer and reinstall the Wireless Device drivers.

Netgear's web site has an excellent tutorial on how to do this. It involves turning off the DHCP on the Netgear, and linking the LAN prots of the two routers. There is no connection to the WAN port of the Netgear.
Make sure the cable is the right kind. just because it fits doesn't mean it will work: a gameboy charger fits in the graph link spot (don't ask how I know this), but it will kill your calculator (or at least batteries, once again, don't ask).
