I keep getting the RESET POWER. I have unplugged and replugged from the wall and from the printer many times while pressing #3, #9, #6, and Cancel + OK. Now it has a continuous beep. Is it time to throw it away? Looks like this problem is very common with this model.

Hi:
Hp recommends that when you see this error, just unplug the unit from the AC outlet the wall, and wait 2 or more minutes then replug the unit up and turn on the printer.
I have run into this problem on my 6310. either unplug at the wall outlet or the back of the printer and it will reboot. you may have to press the power button after rebooting.
Hard Reset
Remove the cartridges from the printer then unplug the power cable from
the back of the printer and from the walljack wait for 30 seconds then
replug the power cable to the wall out let and then to the printer.
Power Drain
Remove the cartridges from the printer then unplug the power cable from
the back of the printer and from the walljack wait for 30 seconds now
press and hold the power button on the printer and replug the power
cable to the wall out let and then to the printer after the power cable
is connected you can let go off the power button..
Partial Reset Power Drain
Remove the cartridges from the printer then unplug the power cable from
the back of the printer and from the walljack wait for 30 seconds now
press and hold the # and the number 3 button on the printer and replug the power
cable to the wall out let and then to the printer after the power cable
is connected you can let go off the buttons..
connect the printer directly to the walljack without the surge protector and then power on the printer and without powering the printer off unplug the printer power cable from the printer as well as the wall jack wait for 30 seconds and then reconnect the printer first to the wall jack and then to the printer
Ok try unplugging the printer for about 15 minutes and plug it back in that will reset the printer and it should work fine.
Let me know how it works out
I don't have a 6310 but I do have 4 printers one of which is a 5610. I never bothered w/ a reset switch because I would just turn the printer off, then unplug everying for 2min. Then I would reconnect everything back. If it doesn't work, I suggest you uninstall the software and reinstall it again. Let me know if this helps.
try doing the special key reset but this good as once ok?
- make sure that your printer is connected directly to the wall outlet.
- unplug the power cord of your printer w/o turning it off.
- press and hold the # and 6 key and while holding them both replug the power cord of the printer.
- and do not release the two buttons, after the printer starts on and off again thats the time you will release the two buttons.
- just do the steps once. if still not ressolved contact HP.
Hi. I just got off of the phone with an HP case manager. I was ready for a refund, but he helped me and now my printer is working fine. The key is to have your Officejet 6310 plugged directly into a wall socket. The variations of power through a surge protector often cause a power shortage to the unit. The 6310 needs the 110 volts to operate. Surge protectors will sometimes rob the unit of this power. Follow these steps: 1. Unplug the power cable & ethernet/usb cable from the unit (stand alone mode). Let it sit for a minute. 2. Plug the power cable directly into a wall socket. Then plug the power cable into the 6310. 3. After it powers up, push the "Setup" button. 4. Right arrow to "2.Print Report." 5. Press "OK" button. 6. Right arrow to "4.Self-Test Report." 7. Press "OK" button. A page should print showing alignment and color settings. Now you're back in business!
> unplug the power chord while the printer is turned on > press and hold the # and 3 button on the printer at the same time. > while holding it, plug the power chord. wait for 5 seconds and release your hands. > once the reset is finished, check whether you are having the same problem.
It's 2 years old.
