Color cartridge missing

I just replaced my ink cartridges. The black worked fine but the color cartridge wouldn't work. The printer said that I still had tape on it (I had taken the tape off already.) I tried to take it out and put it back in again but now my printer is saying that my color cartridge is missing. What is up with that?

I just changed my catridges and its telling me missing catridges. can any one help with a solution

Having owned a 6170 myself and this may seem un-useful advice, but the best solution is to buy a different all-in-on printer with less cartridge problems than this machine. For the price and frustration the 6170 requires for cartridge replacements...you'll be glad you switched. Check out Consumers Report for printers with more economical replace cartridges before buy your next printer or all-in-one. I did and I greatly relieved I no longer have to put up with these same error codes or re-manufactured cartridges that either don't work or stop working when you need them most.

My printer is new, right out of the box. I followed the set up directions. Now, the black works fine, but it says, "color cartridge missing." I have taken out the color cartridge to make sure the take was off. I reinserted it to make sure it was in correctly. It still doesn't acknowledge the color ink cartridge. This printer is absolutely a waste of money!!!! I am wasting black ink trying to print of test pages to check for the color ink.

Color ink cartridge

Well due to some problem in cartridge you would be facing this problem.however you can do try this.

Please clean your cartridge once again with some spirit.

Fix it well in the printer afterward.

Than use normal paper and print in color.

If than also it does not work that means the bar-code of the cartridge has problem in it so the printer is unable to read that code, so for that you need to change the whole cartridge.

Or if your printer had valid in warranty period and it still in that period just give it to a service center.

If you still had any confusion regarding the same problem or nay other please do reply.

Color ink cartridge does not work

Have you tried the steps described on the HP website for what to do if you've got a missing color? Click here to view those instructions.
Give those instructions a try and let me know how it worked?

I am an HP employee. I do not represent HP on this website.

I have a Lexmark X6170 and when I try to copy it says "error 50C cartridge error consult manual. I have changed the black cartridge but not the color I don't use color it was working fine . I can find my...

The error is telling you that the color or black cartridge is missing. It's not recognizing one of your cartridges, most probably the new black cartridge. Here's a link to the Lexmark website to guide you on what to do with that problem. http://bit.ly/bkCWPF

Missing black ink cartridge

Unplug the printer from the wall. Also remove the power brick for 60 seconds. This will reset any error messages you get from the printer. Plug everything back in and power on the printer. Take out the Dell black cartridge and reseat it. Put it back in and do the same for the color cartridge. When you close the printer it should try to print an alignment page.

Black ink wont print, but color works fine

The black cartridge needs replacing it sounds like. On many printers, that is the only way that you get black.

Install black cartridge, but will not print

Lets do it this way. Follow these steps again carefully and try to install the Ink.

Follow the instructions below to replace the ink cartridges.
Replacing the ink cartridges
1. Verify that the unit is on.
2. Open the ink cartridge door.
3. Squeeze the gray tab below an ink cartridge slot to release the gray latch and then lift the latch.

1 - Ink cartridge latch for the black ink cartridge
2 - Ink cartridge latches for the color ink cartridges
NOTE: The ink cartridge areas are color-coded for easy reference. From left to right, the ink cartridges are black, yellow, light cyan, cyan, light magenta, and magenta.
4. Pull the ink cartridge toward you out of its slot to remove it.

5. Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging.
6. Hold the ink cartridge by the handle and then slide the ink cartridge into the empty slot.
NOTE: Make sure that the ink cartridge is inserted into the slot that has the same shaped icon and color as the ink cartridge. The copper-colored contacts should be facing the printer as the ink cartridge is inserted.

7. Press down on the gray latch until it clicks into place.

8. Repeat steps 3 through 7 for each ink cartridge that needs to be replaced.
NOTE: All six cartridges must be installed. The printer will not work if an ink cartridge is missing.
9. Close the ink cartridge door. Print a test page.
If after doing this it does'nt work, then i will ask you to unplug the printer cable from the computer and uninstall the printer driver/Software completely.
Shut down your computer and restart it.
Re-install the printer driver/software from the start as you did when you bought it.
Good luck

Why won't my CX9400F recognize Epson ink cartridges

The Epson CX9400F printer seems to require replacement of all the color ink cartridges, even if only the Black is empty.

I print almost exclusively in Black, but with my first change of Black, I was forced to change all the color. At the time I thought Epson did not provide completely filled color ink cartridges.

Just yesterday, I replaced Black and the printer complained it did not recognize the rest of color cartridges. So I replaced all the other color ink cartridges and now it works fine.

You might want to check out www.clickinks.com for cheaper, mail order alternatives which are Epson ink compatible, if you are not in a hurry.

Dell printer model# A940 50c error

Test your cartridges.

Remove the color ink cartridge then lower the cover of your printer. If the error message displays again, replace the black cartridge with a new one (or return the new one). Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black ink cartridge then lower the cover. If the error message displays again, replace the color cartridge with a new color cartridge.
Note: My manual indicated that the printer might have detected a short circuit in a cartridge. I returned a month old black cartridge got a new one and my printer is working fine now. Good luck.

924 says that black ink cartridge not installed

Hmmm....that sounds to be an issue with the ink cartridges...

You might be using ink cartridges purchased other than Dell or Staples...since these are the two who sell Dell Ink.

If thats not true, then take out both the cartridges in the printer.

Lets isolate the issue

1. Try only Black cartridge on Color slot(right). If you get Install both ink cartridges error, then its an issue with the Black ink cartridges and if you get message that install Black ink cartridge then its an issue with the prrinter.

2. Now install only color cartridge on Black cartridges slot(left), If you get color cartridge missing then its an issue with the Black cartridges which you are using and if you get install both ink cartridges then its an issue with the black slot on printer.

3. If issue found to be with Black ink cartridge then wipe the Nozzles(bottom) of the ink cartridge with lint free cotton cloth from back to front 5-6 times.

4. Also try replacing the ink cartridges purchased only from Dell or from Staples. Purchased from somewhere else or refilled might not work.

5. If issue found to be with printer, then i would suggest you to purchase new printer then.

Hope this fix the issue
